    Enter “edit layout” mode from the desktop, click on the panel (this should select the panel item), long click the panel, customize the panel item

    That’s what I’ve been trying but I can only apply a picture to the background as opposed to filling it with a colour that goes with the theme I’m working on.

    And speaking of the multiple rectangles, what does “padding” mean? And how is the “border” different from the “margin”? Just curious…

    you should read the CSS and HTML specification, it should be the same.



    margin = distance between items


    padding = distance between content and border

    It’s not exactly the same(but it’s based on that specification); once you get the general idea you shoud try different widths and heights for each one to see what changes.
