There was a tym when we could modify the drawer without going into “my drawer” however the options were limited, but we could still do things like box properties. Will this option ever return?

I don’t know yet (by coincidence I was just trying this!). The issue is that now a lot of edit controls are displayed at the same time, and some of them don’t play nice with other modes. Some could be grayed but some are less obvious to manage like the undo/redo buttons. It can be a problem if you edit the drawer in custom mode then switch to alphabetical and undo some operations related to the geometry, for instance. Basically the main issue is the geometry which is computed in other modes.
