Hi, it’s been a while since my last post here.

Hi, it’s been a while since my last post here.. I want to ask about something very important for my smartphone daily life πŸ˜€

It’s about: screen lock.

for 3 years (since my froyo phone) I use app to lock my phone without touch the power button and use it to replace “double tap to sleep” feature on my kitkat (upgraded to lolipop) stock launcher.

But now I use Marshmallow phone with fingerprint sensor. And I see many people struggle with it when tried screenlock app (or launcher with lock shortcut feature).

I search many lock app in playstore but always come to unpleasant statement like “not compatible for fingerprint phone”, “not compatible for marshmallow phone”, or “not compatible for nougat phone (what?)”.

So anyone can help me to tap for locking my phone again like old times? It’ll be good if I can achieve it with mere script.

This limitation forced me to stay with stock launcher.

And again, sorry for my poor english πŸ™‚

Thank you

From what I discovered (I also had this problem in the past) android doesn’t let third party applications to lock the screen the same way the power button does. When those apps lock the screen the device requires the pattern/pin as a security measure. (As you already know)

To avoid this you need a rooted device.

That app Charles suggests use a tricky way to avoid this situation: what it does (according to what I read) is to set a full black image, disable the touches and set the screen lock time to 10 seconds (seems to be the minimum possible). Once that time passes, the device locks itself, and the app reverts the changes.

Thank you for the explanation TrianguloY

It’s so sad.. I’m used to doubletap to lock and unlock.

Maybe if I turn off fingerprint security then I can doubletap to lock and unlock again, but it make fingerprint sensor become useless

I can’t root my phone to because I play JP games (they not allowed to run on rooted device) and many other reason.

Uh but it’s a widget, I can’t assign it to doubletap gesture on LL

TrianguloY, is there a way to activate a widget with script? In my case I want to double tap on empty space instead of click the lock widget.

Hmm, it doesn’t work for me (still asks for the pattern) but if it works for you, nice.

Instead of using the widget, use the shortcut…the one that is not displayed on the list of shortcuts.

    Ok, do this:

Install play.google.com – QuickShortcutMaker(Atajo) (it’s an app to make all types of shortcuts)

Add a shortcut, choose this app on the list.

Now find the M lock app, you will see two activities, choose the ‘lock shortcut’ one.

That should work (no need to use a widget)

Amazing! Thank you TrianguloY it works for me

    ^^

Hope in the future a better solution will be found so all of us can lock phone from display without physical button or timeout feature.

Again, thank you very much πŸ™‚
