Recently I’ve found myself with a serious issue that not only prevented me from using the apps drawer but the playstore had very strange behavior as well.

Clicking the apps drawer did nothing at all and clicking the playstore button opened Google +. Neither of the 2 could be edited nor removed. At first I thought an app was glitching up and showing an overlay with a drunken attitude so I deleted the desktop and created another to no avail. I also found that whatever was screwing with my desktop was also affecting every app I went into.

I thought I’d reboot my device and when I did it completely reset the launcher back to fresh install.. If this is in fact a bug within the launcher it’s a crazy one I never knew could happen. But rebooting the device did fix the issue from what I can tell.

I don’t know what caused this so I don’t know if it can be repeated but to have had the launcher revert back to factory install is just too weird to ignore.

Do you have a backup or something from before the reboot?

no i didnt back it up. I just thought it was weird. it was like i had an overlay blocking the top of my screen and then when i rebooted my tablet it was like i uninstalled all traces of the launcher and reinstalled. The scripts were uninstalled too. Honestly i dont know what happened but it hasnt happened since.

It looks like data have been corrupted. Either they have not be written properly, in which case there are two explanations: storage full or the wear of your flash memory is getting high (happens quite often on memory sticks, but never heard of this on the internal memory). Or data have been removed by something else, which is also unlikely.

It was a strange issue. The overlay part I could have guessed was from an app that didn’t function properly but to have affected the launcher? A simple reboot fixed it but what expense it had on the launcher was even stranger than the original issue. It could have been a memory issue but so far it only affected the launcher and its script apks. I’m glad its fixed as far as I know

Update : that first part of my issue came back yesterday (i forgot to mention yesterday) but the second part did not. At this point it is now unknown if lightning launcher had anything to do with it because of the absence of the second part of the issue or if it truly did have everything to do with it but didn’t put anything back to fresh install.

I don’t know but it seems to be a random occurrence

Pierre Hébert that’s my point. I don’t know where to direct this bug because I don’t know what’s causing it. But it’s only happened twice so far. Now if I can find out what’s causing the bug I can fix it

Understood, although sometimes we can know the root cause without being able to fix it.
