Does the launcher need to be open (phone unlocked) for variable changes to take effect?
I have a Tasker variable that sets the visibility of some icons. It seems that the var doesn’t change unless I run it directly from the phone, rather than having it trigger when the screen is locked. Is this a limitation, or is there another way to do this?

SOLVED: Mileage may vary with this issue – I’ve found that the launcher app was being closed by the OS memory management, and therefore was not always receiving the variable change. I’m using a Xiaomi phone, which is infamous for being a bit heavy handed in this regard.
I’ve added a prior action in Tasker that opens the LL app before setting the variable. This seems to work, even if the screen is off.
