I prefer to not change this value on the desktop because it breaks the icon alignment,but this is possible in the folder since icons are vertically aligned

I understand, but the texts for those icons that I enumerated look very ugly. (even worse, with Czech translation)
Alternatively, an idea for a new feature: When the Maximum number of lines More than 1: enable smaller gap between the text and icon.

Indeed, this is true but multiline is not nice neither.
I just had an idea but I need to experiment a bit: when multiline is activated, then ensure that all texts have the same number of lines by adding one or more carriage returns. This is hackish but would result in a smaller gap as you suggested and ensure that all icons are still aligned.
