Since I fat-fingered that post and none of my toys apps or programs will allow me to edit it I’ll put the rest of it here…I can make it go away by merging a sane and stable template; make it come back by deleting every desktop except for the originally doubled ones. I have some more information, TrianguloY ‘s initial intuition seems correct: two references to the same home screen instead of two copies of it. All exhibiting sporadic weird behavior.

Pierre Hébert ‘you’ve probably already fixed this bug but in case you haven’t , this template shows the bug more clearly.
In configure desktops some of the desktops are duplicated, some not. Set home screen to the ones named ‘Roy’ or ‘biv’and you’ll see two home indicators. Set ‘gee’ to home and there’s only one home indicator.
Also had been some other weird but difficult to reproduce things happening, if you need more detail just ask.
