Trying to create a badge item (any sort, doesn’t matter which) causes LL to “unfortunately” stop and lose setting as default launcher. Crash happens as soon as I try to change any of the badge settings. Using ver. 12. This is the first time I’ve tried to use this item. Tried with a couple templates and after clearing launcher data, but always get the same error 🙁

Possible issues with one of the sources that can not be properly read? Pierre Hébert

I believe this is related to gmail, since this source is the default one. I don’t remember exactly (I need to check the code) but there are varying versions of gmail according to android versions and this could cause the issue. A lazy workaround would be to select sms or missed call as default source instead.

When you add a dynamic text, then manually select gmail source, does it work ?

Pierre Hébert  it’s almost certainly gmail that’s the issue, because I don’t use the gmail app & have it disabled.

Thanks for the hint! I should be able to check for gmail unavailability and avoid this kind of bad behavior.

Pierre Hébert re-enabling gmail eliminated the problem.  With it disabled it was kind of like dividing by zero –> exploding software….hate it when that happens 🙂  Looking forward to the next bug-fix release so I can get rid of gmail again.
