I wouldn’t exactly say “intended”, but basically this is how it works. This is not a bug, but a caveat that I will probably not improve. The reason is that it would require to duplicate all items so that they have one style in the folder, one style using the main app drawer container.

You have to set the folder container – Items the same as you have them set in the app drawer container…
The Item settings are inherited in the rest of the app drawer.
