   But I am surprised this only surfaces now because this gap has been introduced many months ago, if not years, although a bit smaller.

   If i remember correctly this didn’t happen on kitkat. But i have lollipop 5.0.2. I first thought it was my roms fault. But now on 5.1 it’s the same behaviour. I thought i mention it now.

   Oh yes, this probably explains things: I forgot this is a Lollipop specific things. In fact this is an area for an optional icon but this area is was not hidden when the icon was invisible.
