Just updated to 14.1.2 and LL will not open the desktop, it just opens the default launcher. Seems like LL is running since I’m able to open the app drawer from a shortcut in the default launcher. Running android 6.0 on a Huawei Honor Note 8. Anyone having the same issue?

…and BTW: the home desktop does not contain anything fancy, just 5 widgets and a lot of app shortcuts.

Make sure lighting is the default launcher on android settings (search for ‘default home app’ or something like that).

If pressing the home button opens the default launcher, most probably you have that launcher as the default one (maybe updating reverted the setting to default)

Thanks for the answer but that is not the cause for this. I’ve deselected and selected LL again but the home desktop will not be displayed. Even if I try to select LL as default from within settings in LL it flickers, and then displays the default launcher.

Perhaps you have a corrupted desktop somehow?

Go to lightning settings (open the app drawer, settings, lighting) then to the configure desktops screen and choose another desktop as the main one (also, try to long tap one of them to see if it opens)

Other things you can try are:

Disable script execution (lighting settings, general)

Make a backup and delete the app data, and if it works restore the backup.

…and if I try to change to another default desktop, that is not possible since I do not get to the screen where I can change that either.

Thanks for the suggestions, but the home desktop is quite simple, no scripts either. And I have tried to restore from backup as well but that does not do the trick. I’m pretty sure the latest build must have introdused a bug of some kind.

Ok, I got it running again. What I did was the following: went into settings -> desktops. Then swiped left to preview, which gave me a preview. And then when I tried to quit the settings I was able access my home desktop!

Weird. Did you update from a very old version?

Or did you reverted to an older version at some point?

This is as if a configuration file couldn’t be “understood”. Going into the settings screen probably saved it again using the “right” format. At the moment I can only think at 4 reasons:

    – change in file permissions (not likely!)

    – manual change to the file (not likely either!)

    – downgrade to an older version which isn’t aware of a newer format (impossible since 14.1.2 is the latest version!)

    – high energy cosmic particle changed some data on the flash, exactly during the update (really?)

No, I did not update from an old version. I bought this phone in November last year and installed a fresh LL then. I’m pretty sure I’ve updated LL once or twice since then also. I haven’t reverted to an older version either. I have used LL for quite some time without major hassle so I do not know why this happened. Must be a cosmic particle as you suggest, or maybe divine intervention… 🙂

    Anyway, thanks for the answer.

BTW: it suddenly occurred to me that in the same upgrade session when things got weird with LL I tried to upgrade google maps, but that upgrade hung itself. Then right after that I upgraded LL. Could that be the reason?

It was google calendar not maps, sorry.

Could it be that your device ran out of storage? That could explain the issue with LL (unable to save files?) and the other stuck update.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the phone is 128 GB phone and even though I did not look at storage consumtion at that particular moment, I know it was about 90 GB free just days before, and is on 89 GB free now. So that seems unlikely, unfortunately.
