After upgrading to Android 4.3, the Lightning launcher is not capable of launching the native phone app (“shortcut not associated with a valid app” report). Had to abandon LL, even though I otherwise love it.

Is it only me? Is there a fix? Does the paid version solve the problem?

Nexus 4, with Android 4.3 (build JWR66Y)

Thanks

Paulo

Try to update the app drawer; sometimes, when you update an app, it doesn’t update the icon.

If you are trying to open it from a shortcut on desktop, try to add it again (after update the drawer)

I have the same phone/version and it works well.

Thanks. That was good advice. But I’ve tried it ad nauseam 🙁 The only thing I believe I did not do was uninstalling the native phone app and install it again (for obvious reasons 🙂 )

Thanks anyway, TrianguloY. At least I now know that it’s an “only me problem”. I don’t understand it, but I guess I’ll just have to stick with the native launcher (which is not that bad).

Paulo Monica indeed the refresh menu should really fix the problem, since it reloads the list from scratch with the data provided by the Android system. Did you try a reboot ? (sorry if this is a dumb question…)

No question can ever be dumber than me :). The answer is: Yes, I had tried everything, ever since 4.3 deployed. Many phone restarts, of course, some LL updates, many force refreshes of the app drawer and app cache cleanings. However, when your comments showed to evidence that the problem was mine alone, I got the courage to loose all the deep customization I had built (I was trying to avoid it, if not absolutely needed), and I uninstalled/reinstalled the LL. It is now a blank canvas, but the problem is solved. Thank you all for your help, guys.

That’s a shame 🙁 And don’t worry I am sure that if this is a bug in the app, then someone else will get it, sooner or later… I hope you made a backup anyway ?

No shame at all. I was not looking forward to it, but playing ergonomics

and design with LL again from scratch is a joy (a pain, but a joy 😉 ).

    Great app. Great job.
