I’m not sure if this is a bug relating to LL or not, but it has only shown up since starting to run it.
I’m not sure if this is a bug relating to LL or not, but it has only shown up since starting to run it. But basically the hardware home button on my gs3 will stop working in apps other than LL after about 5 mins after a restart. Though long press still works oddly enough.
Anyone else experienced this on a phone with a hard home button?
Thanks

Now I could be wrong about this but this is what makes sense, when you used at launcher it takes over the home key so the only reason it wouldn’t work launcher were killed in the background not running. So have you check to see if the launcher is being killed by the garbage collector while OOM (out of memory) cuz your ram is way overloaded. Make sure you got the keep launcher running enabled in the settings first and check and see what all is running even services in the background getting your apps running settings and see what all is running and do something about apps that are really running for no reason and wasting resources.. 1 word greenify lol anyway it action could be probably hundreds of more things that’s just one simple possibility

I appreciate the suggestion and I’ll look further into this. But I already checked app managers and my oom cutoff shouldn’t trigger with only one app open besides LL. I also greenify moderately. I was just hoping someone had seen this before and knew a workaround or fix for it. I’m a software engineer so I’m not out of things to try lol… Was just hoping for a quick fix haha

The home button is special: it is never caught by apps. So if it doesn’t work in other apps I assume this is a system bug. Lightning itself detects the home button by looking at the delay between two invocations and its current status.

Yeah it’s just a little two coincidental that lightning launcher is the only thing that’s changed since it stopped working… But I’ll keep looking into it because I’m loving LL so far. I’m definitely a convert from nova. I mean tell a programmer he can custom script things on his launcher…
Same reason I’ve had tasker for years. Good job man =)

Maybe capture the log of your device. You should see something like this when hitting home:
I/ActivityManager( 535): START u0 {act=android.intent.action.MAIN cat=[android.intent.category.HOME] flg=0x10200000 cmp=net.pierrox.lightning_launcher_extreme/net.pierrox.lightning_launcher.activities.Dashboard} from uid 1000 on display 0

Ok I’ll check my catlog and see what it looks like. Thanks

When it does work (for the first few minutes after a restart) all I see is:
Activity Manager: resume name
net.pierrox.lightning_launcher_extreme/net.pierrox.lightning_launcher_extreme.activities.Dashboard
and then a bunch of mDVFSHelper.release()/.acquire()
When it doesn’t work, I only see the DVSF Helper release/acquires.
That help out any?

Honestly, If i have to find an alternate method to capture the home press and fire off the home event, I’d be fine with that at this point, because LL has made my s3 perform so much better than even nova did compared to touchwiz lol

And I don’t want to go back =P

Well I still haven’t tracked down the issue… But home 2 shortcut as a middleman is working for now. But I hate relying on an extra app if I don’t need to so I’ll keep working on this.
Just weird that it works for a little while after restart them stops. Also work when I’m within lightning launcher. Like on another desktop or in menus, editing, etc.
