Now down to business. Apologies if this is already possible, but I’d really like to see a panel that makes everything that is in the same location as it, transparent. Basically a bit like a window through to your wallpaper. The reason I want this is so I can mask out parts of widgets and icons I don’t want to see. If it’s already possible I’d appreciate knowing how I might achieve this. I did think it would be possible if I had a static wallpaper, but unfortunately mine is live! Thanks in advance!

    Thanks!

But sorry, this is not possible.

Well, technically this is possible, but not with decent performances. It would require to compose the full screen in a bitmap then mask it with some porter duff operation, then flip it to the screen: these operations would prevent most hardware accelerated drawings.

With a static wallpaper you can use a script I made called ‘hole’, in the scripts section.

However you can’t with a live wallpaper.

Thanks for all the prompt replies. I was worried it would be a resource/performance issue… Thanks also for all the replies regarding static ‘papers too. I’m thinking there might be some innovative ways around my issue. My wallpaper does have some areas that stay static a lot of the time, so maybe I just have to place my widgets appropriately! Thanks again, I’ll report back if I think I’ve done something worth reporting back!
