Would it be possible to position folder windows lower in the layer levels.
Would it be possible to position folder windows lower in the layer levels. Currently my folder windows are always on the top layer. Or am I just missing something?

Not now, but only when it will be possible to embed folders in the desktop as regular items

Thought that might be the case. Never hurts to ask though.

I believe this is the right way to do !

Pierre Hébert You mean… “embed” folders like widgets? That’d be great!

Yes, exactly. In fact this would be a bit like having several desktops on the same screen.

I am wondering what could be the friendly name for these “embedded folders”, maybe “sub-desktop”, or simply “window” or “panel” ?

Pierre Hébert “Wormhole”? This could destroy the whole time-space-continuum 😉 Imagine having a “panel” (my favorite) on desktop 1 showing desktop 2 having a panel showing desktop 1…

Pierre Hébert “window” or “panel” works for me. How about “static folder”?
Once you start on this, I think a folder that can be closed, but defaults to open would be handy.
Maybe 3 folder options default closed, default open and static?

Panel sounds good.

And what about “Item box” ?
I am currently experimenting with this, maybe there will be a beta version sooner than I thought… It’s really funny, especially in free mode…

Pierre Hébert panel is the best name imho. Window connotes something that pops up and moves around. Panel sounds more like what I picture when you talk shout this feature. panel is also a term that users are already familiar with, so Possibly most confusing…
