Personaly i dont need, but one friend ask me…
For example i have desktop with 5×5 grid. On this desktop i have 2 panels. Both panel are in one line, and they have 3 grid from desktop (first is on the left, second is on the right). In center of desktop is first behind second panel. This my friend need set in edit mode/geometry set z-index.
And this friend need set z-index for opened folder. Pierre Hébert

This is not possible in the geometry editor.
In the beta you can simply drag and drop the panels from the hierarchy screen. In the stable version I don’t remember other way different than scripts.
For opened folders I think that can’t be done, nor even from script (or maybe with advanced scripts) but it is a good suggestion
