any chance if the file picker (when choosing an icon for example) is a candidate for getting an update. with thumbnails voor images and previews of a font. ik has been something I missed from te beginning. now we have to diverge to different apps that do this.

I think he’s trying to keep the launcher light but feature packed. So if there’s alternative apps that can do this it makes sense to use those.

    IMO

I know he is trying to keeping it as light as possible. but then the whole file picker could be left out. I don’t know if the thumbnail function is something that has to be written inside the app or could be borrowed from the Android system. the structure is all ready there, the main 2 missing things are thumbnails and font previews imo

I have apps that show thumbnails and appreciate using the built-in picker when I know the file name and don’t want the overhead of thumbnails.

I personally think that a launcher should bring a complete package and not makes you dependable on other apps to complete it. and I think it’s probably not that big, but I am not a developer so I don’t know.

but another question does anyone know an app that shows thumbnails inside zip files. I usually extract icon packs and zip the icons. but some have 1000+ icons other have 200.

but if they did that I think most people would just class it as bloat especially if they already had apps they would prefer to use.

I am not too sure I want to extend this file picker. Displaying a thumbnail for image is easy, previewing a font too, but then other things will be useful and I am 100% sure that they will be requested: sort by name or date, display as a grid or as a list, change the size of the item depending on what your are picking (icon vs wallpaper) and so on. I am calling this a file manager, but I don’t wish to do this. IMHO relying on another third party is a much more efficient and modular solution.

Still the builtin file picker is a requirement because some files cannot be picked correctly without it.
