Beta 8.7b1

Beta 8.7b1

(and this time it is on the beta channel only, not on the production one!)

This early release is for members of the community that don’t fear to be on the bleeding edge 😉 It brings improvements in various areas.

Brand new action : “Open folder”. This would be nice if you could stress test this feature as it is was bit tricky to implement. And it will work with app drawer folders too ! Once coupled with the soon to be released folder placement options, I think it will be  terrific !

Full changelog:

– add open folder action

– better backup/restore screen (Danbar, Chris, you will like it!)

– add support for label selection in Unread Gmail Dynamic Text

– improved icon pack support (Emre, Gustavo, this one is for you 😉 )

– when hit while flinging, a stop point will not stop the scroll, but only lock the scrolling in the direction it is acting on (for diagonal’ers like TrianguloY)

– fixed a problem with unread sms count not always updated (for… everybody !)

– fix dynamic text tabs (Gnudest, single axis pin is back )

– fix a bug with styles that prevented the use of this feature (crash and other problems, special thanks to Michael)

Enjoy !

Pierre Hébert , the new Open Folder action is really amazing. Besides the relevant fact that open transition is really smooth, this action brings me new possibilities I didn’t expect. If you see my central homescreen (I shared a video this morning), with all bars hided, you can see the titles of each group of favourite App. Those text labels were empty folders (I just haven’t found a lighter way to place there a simple text). Well, now, I can change those empty folders for LL Open Folder Shorcuts, and the folders I’ve placed on the other hideable sidebar (the one with the main folders, on the left) will pop up.

I don’t know if that was your target when you’ve implemented this new action, but you’ve allowed me re-use my left sidebar. I think LL is so amazing that new options bring this kind of new possibilities.

Congrats, well done. Keep on the good work!. I’ll continue testing.

Javier Rodríguez García In fact the open folder idea is not from me. I don’t recall exactly from who it comes from. It has been discussed some time ago on the community but someone else emitted the idea ago. It has long stayed on the TODO list because I couldn’t find a satisfying way to implement this. Recently an idea pop up into my mind on how to do that et voila. I think the most interesting fact is that through this option, folders become more that simple folders, but some sort of “windows”. And these windows can be opened using news ways, such as gestures for instances.

When folder placement will be possible, a sidebar could be implemented as a folder aligned to the right side and open/closed with a swipe for instance. I also think at adding some kind of “locked” option for folders so that their are persistent (or not closed). It could open up the way for some sort of dock, though there is another way to implement this.

i’ve gotten close to making a popup sidebar with folders, it’s very fiddly try to get rid of th gaps, just when you think you’ve done it, th gaps they come back.

yes Gustavo Luis Soto i love free mode, i was trying for a folder 1 coloum wide that went from top to bottom with no gaps at top bottom or left and had 600 padding to th right.

You sir are a genius! Loving the open folder features with opened something I wanted from the moment I downloaded this Launcher. The text unread clearing working perfectly now. This was something I mentioned just days ago and already fixed. Outstanding support! 🙂

Thank you! But…unfortunatelly my ‘stopping only the selected direction’ doesn’t work … Am I missing something or do I need to have specific options?

    Now it work (strange update…)

(Now you can open the same folder from different screens Horaay!)
