v9.0.4

v9.0.4

Today I am releasing a new version in the beta channel. It contains bug fixes only and it will be stable, but the reason why it is not in the production channel is that it includes a sensitive modification regarding the scrolling animation, and as a consequence it impacts the general user experience.

The goal is to improve smoothness and remove hiccups seen on some devices. It has been tested successfully on a particular phone with the help of Moritz but it would be great if it could be validated on more devices too. A thing to note is that the “Scrolling speed option” is disabled in this version.

The full change log is:

* reworked scrolling, for a smoother user experience

    * fix app not launching from the app drawer when already running and auto exit option is checked

    * remove “All apps” from recent apps

    * full text search in app drawer

    * folder background is not copied to non folder items when copying the style

    * fix “Add to launcher” action not working with panels

    * fix some crashes

    * fix some widgets not fully deleted when reseting or removing a desktop

Available in around 2 hours !

Yeah, on my Nexus 4 animations are much smoother now but still not perfect. Thanks Pierre Hébert and keep at the good work.

Nexus 4, scrolling is absolutely smooth now, even in app drawer. Great!

    Pierre Hébert,

Is there a particular reason that Stop Points – Stop Scroll stopped working? Stop Drag works still.

Seems a lot smoother on my i9505 ! Though no quite perfect yet, but still a lot better!

Anyone else having the app drawer load for a long time when running it for the first time after LLX restart? Didn’t even open the app drawer, but shows the home screen where I was when I clicked the icon and freezes for a while, when I try to move the screen a lot then eventually the screen goes black – after that the app drawer open (no errors shown).

It didn’t start with this beta, but before. If I recall correctly it didn’t happen when I started using LL , but I’ve seen it on both LL and LLX (bought LLX not more than a week ago).

I think I have noticed that LLX takes longer to come back after exiting an app on the beta. Wouldn’t swear to it… anyone else?

Taavo Allik I guess that depends on number of apps installed. I have about 300, and yes, there is a delay but seems natural to me for loading app list, sorting, fetching icons etc.

… and thanks a lot, Pierre, for sorting styles now alphabetically!

Lutz Linke Good point, actually hadn’t realized that.

Probably my mind playing tricks then that it didn’t happen before and that occasionally it happened later than the first time.

It’s always the simplest explanations that are hardest to see  =D

Yes indeed, when the number of apps to load increases, it starts to be noticeable. One thing that may help is to put apps in folders and start with the “My Drawer” view.

One other thing you can try is the “minimize ram usage” option because it will load icons on demand, not all at once.
