V12.4b4 beta

V12.4b4 beta

Edit: V12.4b5 with some more fixes. Feature frozen until the release.

Edit: V12.4b6 hopefully this update will become a bit more stable.

Be prepared to see some more visible changes before to download this version…

This update features a reworked and somewhat experimental popup menu. The basic idea is to provide one menu content for the edit mode, focused on edit tasks, and another menu content in normal mode geared toward “management” tasks such as app info, kill, etc. That’s a disruptive change, I need your feedback on this!

In addition, the popup menu has now a header with most basic edit actions (add, delete, …), this way I hope the menu will still be a fast way to modify items.

Also related, but a more subtle change, is the behavior of the long tap and move operation on an item, while not in edit mode. I tuned the logic so that an item can be moved in normal mode, and the edit mode is triggered when the item is dropped, only if the “auto edit” option is checked. The default value for this option has also changed, it is now off by default. This stuff is not easy to explain, the best is to try it! And I also need your feedback on this new behavior…

Also in this update: lots of bugfixes and more tuning on the background image size. I expect it to solve pixelation issues.

Enjoy!

ROFL! I like the easter egg 🍳 it’s probably an old one, but I like it. And yes, I can read 😁

The item menu looks good, but there’s a slight glitch in the placement – see bugs section.

I personally like the way Items can be moved now. Feels much more natural than before. Again: personal opinion.

André Bonhôte that would be great but I must warn you this quite a lot of work, there are almost 800 translated strings now. You can follow the link the app (general settings, language), then post a message in the translations category when you wish me to build a package.

James Simmons Are you going to the ‘Data’ tab in the edit mode properties menu (paintbrush while in edit mode)?

The properties menu IS the items menu – it has been moved to a better location. Accessing this while editing a panel should let you edit the items of the panel as you describe.

Pierre Hébert is it just me, or is “hide app” missing in the app drawer menu?
