I feel like the post categories for the community could do with some work.
I feel like the post categories for the community could do with some work. I’ve seen quite a few people posting in the wrong category and its often quite hard to know which one to post in.
Here are the categories I think would work better (mostly very similar):
All Posts
News (mods only)
Get Help
Report a Bug
Suggest a Feature
Express Your Opinion
Share your setup
Translate LL
Scripts
APK’s
Custom Views
With those categories, it should be easier to find certain content. I’m not sure how moderation works on G+ as I have yet to be one but I would suggest a sticky post in each category detailing what to post and then move any misplaced posts to the correct category too so things are kept organized.

+1 for Get help
+1 for merging the share your … categories
– 1 For Custom Views, I think they are closely related to scripts and should go there
I think the discussion category has some right to stay, who was here while the icon thing knows what I mean.
Dunno if we need an extra apk section, it’s also closely related to scripts or setups.
That’s it for me.

Lukas Morawietz Well I feel the discussion and opinion categories need merging. Discussion is a very broad category IMO. Ideally posts in most categories should be open for discussion.
I should explain my reasoning behind the Scripts, APK’s and Custom Views too. I feel they should be kept separate to make finding what you want easier, especially as more members join.
The scripts category is for sharing simple scripts that do basic yet awesome things like simple animations. The idea is to help beginners to learn the syntax, and API quickly and easily by means of actual examples rather than documentation which can be quite daunting for someone starting out. It also makes it easier to find code snippets that may be relevant to a more basic setup.
The custom views category shows off what is possible with the custom view item. I feel this is important as its own category as there is really no documentation for them so its hard to see what they are used for. People can share what they have done and provide code and ideas for others.
The APK category is for announcing APK releases as well as complex scripts such as standalone applications and games made using LL. This is where the experienced show off.
It should be noted that these categories are for examples only. Questions should be posted in the get help section.
It’s not really much of an issue at the moment but in the future, as more people are posting each day, it will get harder and harder to find relevant posts. It will also get harder and harder to change things too.

Regarding moderation, you can now tinker with the options to see how it works 😉 Unfortunately the G+ system is quite basic, this is not possible to pin a post per category, it is community wide.
I have no problem with your suggestion except for one thing: I don’t think the goal should be to help people find content such as scripts or tips&tricks. This kind of data need to be stored in a “non volatile” memory such as the wiki. G+ is not a good tool to save and search information, even the search function is pretty inefficient. As for myself when I am looking for something I try to find a rough date first because whatever keywords I put, it seems that search results never deliver what I expect. With the Google web search you know it is useless to look at the second page, with the G+ search you know that even the first page is useless, lol.
Regarding Custom Views I believe they are so tightly linked with scripts that they could be merged in a single category. Even if their mechanism is different, the process of setting up them is similar

Pierre Hébert perhaps an improved website could be something to think about then. I could possibly work on something after I’ve finished these assignments as I guess you don’t have much time. I could make a basic example and throw it up on my server so you can see what you think?
I didn’t really mean find as in search for but more as just browse to get ideas. The goal would be more to keep things organized and make it easier for people to get what they need.

An improved website is something at which I think every day, and this site even exists, with its own nice domain name. But exactly as you guessed, I don’t have a lot of time to focus on it.
This will be the place to gather things and make them consistent. I’ll start to focus on it once the current version is released and after I finished a thing or two…
