Question:

What is the best widget(app) in the store that lets you add a picture only? It needs to fill the widget space.

I know you can do it with zooper or uccw, but I want a ‘photo only’ widget if possible.

Aye Animated photo frames quality its got some pretty nifty animations,of course if that ent your thing you don’t have to use a animation. Definitely worth a look IMO

Sorry, that’s not what I’m looking for.

I want to make the typical ‘secret home’ and I need to have a photo that fills the whole screen and that I can move.

The widget need to have the option to fill the space, no frames at all. (Animation is not necessary.)

With your suggestions, the widget always have frames, even if I disable them (I mean, you can see the background between the photo and the widget border)

    Thanks anyway.

In my opinion zooper widget is the best for making photo or photo only widgets and you can also made it e.g. to make it change your photos every minute. Other widgets have limited functionality.

Patryk Goworowski: of course. I agree with you. But sometimes you just want a particular functionality, why? Smallest app, no extra processes, no extra unnecessary options…just click, select a photo, and save.

This is android, not ios. Almost all you can imagine, there is an app that do it. I’m searching it 🙂

& TrianguloY – I wasn’t aware of that cheers for pointing it out, I just messaged the devs about it as I think its caused by padding on the widget so I asked them to add an option to switch it on/off

TrianguloY Yeah, that’s right, I have a lot of zooper widgets in my homescreen and it eats almost 50mb of RAM. But I have a nexus 4 and I don’t care 🙂

    Jay M cool! Thanks.

The size of the app is a bit…big. But I’ll leave it installed. I’ll give it a try.

TrianguloY You can also try “Nice Simple photo widget” That’s only 342 kb and it has few options.

The Animated Photo Frame devs just emailed me back apparently its caused by the launcher they sent me a screenshot of SSlauncher with the widget and there’s no gap :/

Patryk Goworowski the same. It also makes frames (that was the first app I tried)

Um…maybe is an undocumented ll bug?

its definately caused by LL I just tried it on Apex with No margins and widget padding off and it filled the screen, retried it in LL and even with widget padding set to 0 it still has that gap

Jay M You can try to change the number of columns and rows, sometimes it helps.

Free mode fixes it but you have to let the widget resize into the next screen, changing grid size doesn’t make any difference, From what I can see it effects all of the widgets. So basically LL is adding padding to all widgets even when we set padding to 0, I think that classes it as a bug. See what the dev says though I could be wrong 🙂

Not a bug, all widgets include automatic padding: “As of Android 4.0, app widgets are automatically given margins between the widget frame and the app widget’s bounding box” (http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/widget_design.html)

Yup i was wrong my bad,

Some developers have been a little bit upset because of these margins…

The widget has no knowledge of its container and cannot adjust margins, but the launcher can “explore” the content of the widget, hence it could be possible to hack the widget container and remove margins, but honestly this would be really dirty…

    I understand that cheers.

If LL would except a negative value for padding, would that allow one to set it manually?

But…I use uccw…and it has no borders. (You can check my post in share your screens)

And also in think with zooper is the same.

It’s true! All my other widgets have the same margin (except uccw)

Why not just stretch the image widget when you tap on the widget twice in edit mode you get the arrows to scale it?

Chris sledge thanks for the tip il try that although this isnt really a problem for me as I use free mode anyway. Chris Chastain I was thinking the same thing TrianguloY Yeah i can confirm Zooper has no borders either Robert Poulton Stretching it works but only in free mode so if your the type that likes to stick to a grid your outta luck,
