I don’t understand why nobody is writing articles about Pierre Hébert. I’ve never used an app that had the the communication and support of a developer like LL. I think one of us should write an article. Anyone a blogger?

Pierre Hébert didnt want that much publicity anyway iirc. Ask him, he wont even accept donations to further help development…. there was something else but i forgot

One can be too successful and have too many users to support . If you’re a single developer then there’s only so much you can do to support your user base.

I for one think that Pierre Hébert is a friggin’ rock star not only because LLX is amazing, but also that he keeps his user base managable and therefore happy.

LLX ain’t your mommas launcher and, as such I think it targets a radically different audience than any of the other Launchers out there.

Personally I love the flexibility it offers me, even though I do nothing compared to some of the LLX wizards out there do, but that’s the beauty of it. However I’d never even think of trying to begin to attempt to convince my wife to start using it because she’s a stock launcherish sorta gal (Nova is the height of flexibility she needs). Even if she did need anything else, given her needs any of the others out there would serve her well enough.

It takes a certain mindset to be an LLXer, someone who is prepared to deal with complexity and a few rough edges to get a launcher that’s utterly unique to each user. As such many of the ‘general end users’ out there would bitch, moan and complain on how complex it is to configure and Pierre would spend way too much time dealing with them than doing what he’s so excellent at.

LLXs motto should be ‘My phone, my way’!

Rachel Ambler lightning launcher has the one feature no other has had (if theres another i havent seen it) that got me…. the ability to stretch widgets. Without that i wouldnt be here today because i would have busted my f***ing tablet already. Why? Because the one music player i like is so f***ing finicky that if i land my finger on one of the controls on the widget the wrong way it opens my player. with lightning i can stretch the widget so my fingers always hit the buttons, not around them.

I absolutely agree with Rachel Ambler .

Pierre Hébert in my eyes is a “rockstar”, but not mainstream, more independent/alternative.

To me Lightning Launcher is from a technical view more a framework or runtime environment then a traditional launcher (suggested the renaming a while ago as a joke).

LL will never be the launcher of choice for everyone. And that’s a good thing. Publicity would probably draw many users that would not be willing to learn and instead rage upon LL. It’s a launcher for those willing to become addicted — be it by using the general features (like panels which also is one unique feature compared to others) or “taking the red pill” and dive deeper.

I often recommend LL, but only to those I think will be worth and capable of using it. That’s the way to keep the LL Community a happy family.

Lol! I like how the music can define us. Actually I like some kind of alternative rock but I am much more an electronic music listener (but I love The Beatles too…).

You know, this kind of review may not be just because of the journalist initiative… As everyone else, journalists have to pay their bills at the end of the month.

Me, a “rockstar”? Not at all! I like to live out in the country.

That’s the beauty of music… Not two persons like the same music. We all have a need for various genres that have nothing in commons, depending on our current mood…

Pierre Hébert So if you guys won’t stop anyway, I’ll join the discussion.

I would compare Pierre Hébert to mind.in.a.box: Only a few know the music at all, and from these few there are only a few who like it, but these all love it so much, that it starts to define themselves.

WOW haha! I fell asleep and missed the most comments of any post I’ve ever made on G+! Well I should have elaborated a little more in my OP, but as much as love Pierre Hébert, (and you know I do Pierre), he will always be a rock star to me. In my book, he falls somewhere between a brain surgeon and a rocket scientist. But seriously, I’m already pissed that I wasted time and money on other launchers before finding LL. I think of all the previous themes and setups that could have been made better and easier with LL. Not to mention that my phone runs better, and you gotta love that tiny weeny installer! To me, I feel it’s important to spread the word. A lot of Android users in the personalization community could really benefit from LL, and save money. Pierre’s fame and social status would just be a pleasant side effect. Besides, the best Rock stars never want to be famous. Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, and just about everyone else worth a damn to name a few!😂

The best Android launcher, and the man behind it

Pierre Hébert is a craftsman, an innovator, and a leader. He’s also the creator of the greatest launcher for the Android platform, bar non. Of course I’m speaking of the wondrous achievement that is Lightning Launcher.

While Lightning Launcher is entirely usable as is, its astonishing flexibility puts it in a class of its own. A flexibility so complete, only experiencing it will allow for a full understanding of its power.

Here are a couple examples to help convey at least the smallest impression of what is possible:

    #

Yet even while providing sane defaults, and a near infinite capacity for customization and expansion, Lightning Launcher is incredibly fast, and absurdly tiny. It’s snappy on my generation one Samsung Galaxy S, and Google Play lists the install size as a minuscule 741 KB.

Still, it’s not just the brilliance of Lightning Launcher that makes Pierre Hébert such an amazing developer. It’s his responsiveness and engagement with his user base which makes him so unusual and so truly awesome.

The community around Lightning Launcher is fantastic, rife with intellectual curiosity and custom home screens, both beautiful and highly functional. Members are helpful and interaction is both pleasant and informative.

Pierre cultivates the best aspects of the community, delegating moderation and general troubleshooting while remaining very much involved. He is, in brief, the heart and soul of a vibrant community surrounding the marvelous launcher he lovingly crafted.

So from an intermittent community member and Lightning Launcher fan, thank you!

Michael Plotke Nice toast on Pierre, well spoken. Everything is so true, and I second every single word. But he made clear he wants no big publicity. Especially not on his person.

We should recommend LL where ever appropriate to guys we know will be able to tame the beast. But too many incapable users drawn by an article somewhere might become LL’s downfall. Which none of us wants.

Lutz Linke I am still using LOL! But might it be because I am nearing 40 too? (lol)

No, I am not against publicity, I am against donations which are not the right way to sustain the app IMHO.

Michael Plotke has the right to publish what he wants, may it be a positive review (wow, this one is extremely positive, honestly I am not sure me or the app deserve that, really this is too much, but what you said about the community is nevertheless perfectly true – end of the long digression) or a negative review. I remember such a libelous one on another of my apps that I had trouble to sleep, but everything I could do is… nothing, because this is how the internet works. Strengths and weaknesses…

Thomas Greer  Ah ah! I wouldn’t have hoped to be mentioned together with Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain. Well, I hope I will live a bit longer anyway…

Pierre Hébert don’t worry, I think we’ve both made it past the 27 mark!😉 of course played in a band still might be the death of me. My day started @ 6am going to work. We are almost home from playing a show 4 hours away. It’s currently 5:30am, and just asked the wife to drive for awhile. The good news is we will have to unload the equipment when we get back! Gotta love the out-of-town gigs! LOL…see I still use “LOL”!
