Has distributing scripts as APKs been discontinued?
Has distributing scripts as APKs been discontinued?
I just created an APK from Pierre Hébert ‘s template, installed it, but neither does it show in app drawer nor is the a button in Script Editor to load from APK. How am I supposed to load a script from an APK? There’s only “Import” which requires the Script Importer tool and uses the wiki.

If you built the apk correctly, it should show up in Lightning menu -> scripts -> load a script.

Lukas Morawietz Thanks a lot, pretty hidden that function. Why isn’t it in Script Editor? That’s where I searched.
And yes, it worked. Great templates by Pierre Hébert with installer script, pretty usable as basis.

Lutz Linke idk, I’ll pass that on to Pierre Hébert.
Anyway I prefer the direct loading without user interaction provided by the repository importer service. I think the most intuitive way to use something is when you can open itself and don’t have to do something in another app.

Lukas Morawietz Do you think we mentioned Pierre Hébert enough?
You are right. Now that I found the function, it seems logical. Loading scripts from APK is supposed to “do something”, not just to import a script. But APKs can nevertheless also be used for easier (for the user) import of scripts. So I think the load function should be added to the editor as well.

Lutz Linke yes, we did. 🙂
I think if you have a script, that doesn’t require any setup, it is easier to just upload it to the Wiki and import it with the importer.
If you add the load action also to the editor, this would crash for most (all?) apk’s I’ve built, because they rely on the event that contains a container…

Lutz Linke Lutz Linke ,Lukas Morawietz , Lukas Morawietz lol!
I am taking a break at the moment, no matter the number of times you ping me, the notification list is already full 😉
There is no “Load APK script” from the script editor because I don’t think this is the right place for that. The goal of the APK is to ship something nicely packaged and ready to use, not exactly to import scripts. The “Load from APK” shouldn’t even be in the current Scripts menu, but in some kind of generic “Load some external resource/plugin”.

Pierre Hébert We were just kidding, wasn’t meant as pings.
But thanks for the clarification.
