How about creating a “Lightning Launcher Template Gallery”?

How about creating a “Lightning Launcher Template Gallery”?

Yes, there’s a “Share your Screens” section here.

Yes, there’s a “Lightning Launcher User” community.

But I think a gallery web site for showing great templates (with links to Play Store or G+ posting) wouldn’t hurt but help users.

I have a webspace (hosted at Strato) with a still few gigbytes and domains free and would be willing to setup a WordPress site. Gallery should be the main part, it should allow tagging / categorizing as well as rating — but not comments, this would require moderation.

What do you think?

Domain suggestions (TLDs: .org .net .mobi .com .info)?

www.llxgallery.net

www.lightninglaunchergallery.net (long and easy to misspellable)

like the idea, but … who should admin/manage, who is allowed to post etc. ? in my opinion to much things to think about.

    kis > keep it simple

i suggest in the LLUsers Group two  Sections:

Free Templates / Paid Templates as addition and/or replacement for the “share your screens” section. with some mandatory disclosures like: recommended screen-resolution, Apps needed, Skill-Level …

but anyway it would be great to spread the ingenious quality of LLX!

I like the idea as well but like Gerd said it would almost take someone dedicated to it or a couple people so that it looks good and functions well. Sadly it wouldn’t probably get many active users as most seem to search on the Play Store. The only real exception i’ve seen for that is mycolorscreen.com which is a great community and very active.

Both right. Much work. Problem with public sharing: everyone can post. Maybe a third topic “Editor’s Choice” where only moderators can re-share hand picked templates.

I like the idea. My feeling is that it requires far more work than it seems too.

An “Editor’s Choice” category in the open community is probably a good way to start: I agree that this would help in keeping some consistency (LL is already lacking of consistency too much…) by limiting the number of posts and keeping them clean with a standardized presentation. Following Gerd’s suggestion this could be: name of the template, author, apps needed, a download link if available, a short description, and of course an album. I would prefer to avoid screen resolution (the goal is that it does not matter, even if not true yet…) and skill level (necessary high, lol).
