Christmas and the New Year Day are already behind us…
I might be a bit late, but I nevertheless wish you all an Happy New Year !
Now it’s time to get back to work 😉 And I would like to share my plans regarding Lightning Launcher. There are tons of things to improve. I won’t list them all here, but a few big things are standing out.
Bug fixing
As usual. A rather long list of bugs have been collected since the last release and they need to be fixed.
Add scripting to the app
This would allow… everything ? Maybe not, but surely a lot of elaborated behaviors, such as conditionally executing a list of actions, handling events depending on the current state (current desktop, whether a folder is open, scroll position, etc), maybe animations too.
I regularly think at this, and the feature is starting to shape nicely. As of today, I can confirm that this will be JavaScript based and this will be an advanced feature for LLX only.
Allow one or more desktops to be used as a lock screen
It has been first requested maybe one year and a half ago… This is a bit tricky because this is not a standard Android feature, and for this reason Lightning Locker will only be integrated with Lightning, it won’t be available as a standalone lock screen (at least not soon). It will be either built-in or as an addon.
Maybe some sort of custom widget
This is a long term evolution which would help reduce excessive widget weight and template sharing. This would also hugely benefit of scripting.
Maybe at some point a poll will be great to schedule things a bit 😉

Happy new year to you, too.
Please bug fixing first and optimizations (panel editing, inheritance), new features can wait.

Lutz Linke I agree with you. I also think fixing bugs first and then new features. LLX has developed tremendlously since I started using LL and in a incredible pace. It is amazing to be a one man’s work!

Thanks Pierre! Much as new stuff’s great, I’d agree with Lutz in consolidating. However your development decisions so far have been great so .. up to you 🙂

Yeah, bugs first, but scripting, wow, and of course, peace and good will to all has to fit in there somewhere😊

I need different wallpaper for landscape layout and different for portrait layouts. In app drawer please add sorting…

Danbar Danbar for wallpaper, maybe what you can try is to create two dummy shortcuts. Hide text and icon for both, set their background using a different image for each, then set them as non clickable and move them at the bottom of the stack. And finally use dual position so that the first shortcut is out of the scope in portrait, and the second is out of the scope in landscape. Maybe this could do the trick ?
Regarding sorting this will come soon. Maybe not in the next version, but probably in the following.
