Regarding the lock screen, what app are you using, or which one would you recommend ?
I am currently experimenting with this challenging feature…
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I use widgetlocker, and it is also the most used one i think.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
it wouldn’t matter to me because I’ll never see the feature anyway as I’m running Android 4.1 and the feature is only available on 4.2+ if not 4.3.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
It was quite laggy on my tablet, sometimes I had 3 or 4 seconds delay when turning the screen on, sometimes not, I felt a bit disappointed 🙁
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Curtis Sylvester Jr. well, in fact no Android version really supports lock screen, this is only a combination of hacks and the feature is not publicly exposed to third party apps 🙁
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I’m sure we would all wish they would setup to allow that so we don’t have to hack don’t you think? if they just let us use the damn device the way we want we won’t have to root them now would we? sadly i can’t root because there isn’t a freakin site that can correctly identify my tablet.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I personally don’t use any third party lock screen, because it’s not as safe as the default (or at least I think it’s not) but in the past I used GoLocker. You can try it.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Tried it too, but… pressing the home key was unlocking it, so I don’t see the point ? Maybe I used it without go launcher and both need to run together, I didn’t tried that.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
oh crap i was thinking you meant what app would you like to see on the lockscreen. if you’re thinking what 3rd party lockscreen do we use our what we would suggest i say just stick with the launcher setup and let us customize it ourself
]]>
< ![CDATA[
hell even my own default lockscreen can be unlocked just by clicking the notification tab where my clock is. what the hell good is a default lockscreen if it can be bypassed just by clicking on the clock? enter numeric code… my ass!
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Somewhere in here there’s a post suggesting you come up with something like Start lock screen (celltick). I’ve used it and there’s a lot to recommend it, but I stopped using it because it’s not really well integrated into my phone.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
ok I’m confused. my default slide lock gets bypassed just by a launcher task to open a folder but the default Patten lock gives me the finger and almost freezes my tablet because its forcing the folder to wait . ok so 1 lockscreen is a joke while the other enforces the issue? and both of them are stock screen locks? ? ok who hired the idiots at Toshiba that programmed this tablet seriously
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Curtis Sylvester Jr.: keep calm. This is an android feature. The ‘slide to unlock’ is not really a lock, it’s only just to not show the homescreen when press the power button, you can bypass it…because it’s not really a lock screen (you can still swipe down the status bar.
However, pattern/number/password are really lock screen, so you won’t be able to do nothing (well, you can do some little things) until unlock
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Curtis Sylvester Jr. Have you tried Settings > About Device > Model Number?
]]>
< ![CDATA[
yes its an AT300 that still don’t tell me if its an excite, excite 10, excite 10SE, THRIVE or what. I’ve searched the internet and none of them can get the story straight.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I use widget locker. Do the task pretty well. But not very fast (once the screen is locked you need to wait 1 or 2 seconds before the lockscreen display.
But it does not allow for many customization options. And is not very user friendly as design mode is kind of mixed with homescreen (if you activate an unlock button in design mode the apps quit)
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I’m thinking he should just build a lockscreen app to go with the whole lightning launcher theme. its our lockscreen we customize it the way we want with our own layer of protection.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Curtis Sylvester Jr. Ok sorry I can’t help…
]]>
< ![CDATA[
nobody can Daniel Lloyd my particular model doesn’t exist somehow I’m cool with it though because it works
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Thanks for your input !
Actually what I plan to do is let the user decide which desktop is to be displayed as the lock screen and then the launcher will be responsible for doing the right operations at the right time. Now the tricky part is to coordinate several hacks so that it works on more than one android version…
I have something working but it has to be improved.
What’s interesting is that not two lockscreens on the play store behave the same, they all have differences in behavior.

< ![CDATA[
there’s one lockscreen that i like but even its security sucks. i only use it for fun. I’ll post a screenshot of it. will the lockscreen be a separate app or is it something you’re working on for an update?
]]>
< ![CDATA[
It will be built into llx, and maybe as a plugin for all, but probably not usable with another launcher. In my implementation launcher and locker have tight links.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
excellent Pierre Hébert very good so it’ll be an update to llx i like that
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I can’t give you a date Josh Gray 🙁 I don’t even know whether I will get something usable…
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Carolyn Boyle I tried start as well. It was good then I saw battery usage.
Pierre Hébertif there was a way to make a desktop a lock screen we’d love you in the most platonic way possible. At the moment I use the stock lock screen but am considering placing the 12 hours clock widget on there.
My only real concern is that I don’t think a lock screen should be as functional as a desktop. That said I am sure I’ll like whatever comes out. 🙂
]]>
< ![CDATA[
i use all time widgetlocker 🙂 Hello Pierre Hébert 🙂
]]>
< ![CDATA[
and i don’t like the grid system and also sometimes the lag too unlock but it’s the most customizable….
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I only use a lockscreen to lock my devices and to look at the picture of my beautyful wife. I don”t think a desktop-/homescreen enhancement is necessary 🙂
]]>
< ![CDATA[
gerd reuter i kinda agree that a lock is a lock so what difference does it make? however in my defense i think that the lockscreen should fit with a theme or a launcher that compliments it and as advanced as this launcher is the stock lockers don’t fit in
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Globally I agree with previous comments. The idea of a lockscreen is not to have too many functionality (typically in my opinion, if you use your lockscreen to launch apps, then you confused lockscreen and homescreen).
On the other hand you might want to display some information accessible without unlocking (time, weather, news, notifications…) that’s why having the ability to set widgets on the lockscreen is really usefull.
I think the hard part will be security. If one want to have interaction with elements of the lockscreen what can and cannot be done. Typically, the lockscreen should not allow to access information that should be behind the lock. But the limit if what is private can differe from one to another. Some might want to display reminders description without unlocking. Some might consider that a security breach

Emmanuel Lapierre you’re right like me all i want is a widget of my music player of choice on my lockscreen that way i can change tracks play pause see the artist/album/song info and even access the music player itself if i have to all without unlocking my screen. I’m a music lover and quick easy access is my concern. your concern may be with how many emails/text/missed phone calls/ …… and you may wanna get that quick text out without unlocking your screen. but we both can agree that anything beyond that is a security threat.

Great news 🙂 Although I must say i have been using Widgetlocker since 2010 and I’ve never had a delay of like 3-4 seconds 😮 the longest was probably 2 seconds on my HTC HD2, but on my Note 2 and 3 theres 0, I will upload a quick video of me locking/unlocking my phone and you can see how quick it is its even this quick 1st thing in the morning when the screens been off for hours, so maybe its something to do with your devices.
Widgetlocker Locking/Unlocking with your phones and not the actual app itself.
Watch “Widgetlocker Locking/Unlocking” on YouTube
Things to Note the apps animation is set to none its excluded from task killers like clean master and i dont have the disallow 3rd part apps from suspending widgetlocker option checked. the lock screen only has 1 Zooper widget and a transparent slider which covers the bottom 40% of the screen although I had about 4 widgets on it before and still no delay delay
I tried go locker in the past though when I used go launcher ex and it wasnt great quite often I could see the stock lockscreen or it would freeze up for a few seconds was very dissapointed with it tbh

that is great news and it sounds like a customizable lock Jay M i might buy that at the end of the month but i need to buy llx first. i wanna get my bills paid off get llx and a few other things. however if Pierre Hébert manages to build a beta llx/locker for testing purposes I’ll use that test it out give input all while still using ll as my launcher. Pierre Hébert this doesn’t mean to put ll or llx back in beta but rather build a beta version of the launcher with the lockscreen or build a plugin to the beta lockscreen in the meantime. like a closed beta for certain people of your choosing. only reason i nominate myself as a tester is because nobody else has my make/model tablet or if they do they have been keeping a lid on it. ALL LL USERS WITH A TOSHIBA AT300 TABLET COME FORWARD I’M CALLING YOU OUT.. (crickets)

I don’t get why everyone wants a lockscreen… I use no third party lockscreen, just JB’s / KK’s default. Tried DashClock a while ago, but realized I never ever even locked at it. Clock is all I need there. And maybe quicklaunch of camera.
Pierre Hébert I’m sorry to say that, but please leave the lockscreen aside. There are more important issues still waiting. Like proper scaling on different devices (what’s the point of being able to publish as APK when some more advanced styling is messed up on other devices?), better panel editor (fullscreen like folders), advanced positioning and sizing of folders. Then maybe scripting.
Just my 5 cents.

Curtis Sylvester Jr. The AT300 is just that. Its called the Excite and Excite 10 in America some people just call it Excite 10 because of the screen size if it was an Excite 7 it would be because the screen wud be 7″ etc the AT100 is the Thrive. The AT300SE is a cheaper lower spec version of the AT300 aka The Excite 10 SE in America.
Bottom line if your AT300 has a 5mp Camera you have the AT300 and not the AT300SE which has a 3mp Camera
Hope this helps.

i have 2 cameras…. i have a 2mp for video chat and a 5mp for taking pictures. my device has a standard sd card slot for external storage micro hdmi a 40 pin charger connection and a micro USB port. my screen is 10 inches. if this fits the profile of the Excite 10 (not SE) then I’ll go with that thank you Jay M

Compared to its Toshiba AT300 ancestor, the Toshiba AT300SE sees the same Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core mobile processor and features a 5th battery-saver core, but uses the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. It also receives a £30 discount, taking the price down to £299 in the UK and US$349.99 in the US, where it’s called the Excite 10 SE.
The tablet’s cheaper price is achieved by using a slightly thicker (10.5mm vs 8.9mm), heavier (625g vs 589g) chassis, a less able camera (3MP rear, 1.2MP front vs 5MP and 2MP) and a less comprehensive array of ins and outs.
This next bit of info should let you no for sure what you have.
Compared to a Toshiba AT300, the Toshiba AT300SE lacks a metallic strip along the top to house camera and flash, and completely lacks a flash. This incarnation uses a printed Toshiba logo instead of an engraved version, too.

Ima cry so much that It floods Earth,if this lock screen gets left aside 🙁

Lutz Linke at first I didn’t get the point neither, but over the time I came to the conclusion that this is a useful feature. As for myself I am constantly unlocking my device to check my calendar and messages or trigger some action (toggles).
Sure there are things to improve elsewhere. And better scaling is one of them, though as I already said I don’t expect to fix everything on this side. After all, even Apple engineers had trouble to handle this…
But I need to advance on several front and in my opinion the lock screen is a urgent one.

I always end up just using the stock CM Lockscreen (modified a little). All the ones I have tried are just too slow and/or buggy on my device.
Having said that, I do love the way the Moto X lets you check a message without unlocking.

i use a fun app lockscreen just for laughs its not even really a lockscreen it just acts like my stock slider lock. i also use my tasker equivalent of a pin lock. only problem with the tasker one is that you can still see the home screen and i hate that. I’m also a baby when it comes to tasker i have no freaking clue how to use tasker to its full potential. (taking lessons from HOLLYWOODFRODO)
]]>
< ![CDATA[
With the tasker one it should be possible to change the background color.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
you’re right i still use it so no complaints here it just gets annoying sometimes when I’m trying to get it just right
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I think I would like one to show my home screen, actually.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
i mostly use widgetlocker, but i am using ViperOne ROM and it has a ton of customization options for the sense lockscreen. and sometimes i use that one
