It’s possible pop open panels and edit them full screen to a limited extent.

I haven’t tested the following on any device but my phone, but I figured I’d post this in case it works for anyone else

It’s not really a feature yet, more of an Easter egg at this point; but if you have a panel that has no horizontal scrolling (vertical is ok) you can make the panel pop out like a folder by swiping left on it. Long pressing puts it into edit mode it & looks just like a folder.

You can then edit the contents like a folder, but after popping it out you have to restart the launcher to be able to click on the panel contents again. I just keep a re-start shortcut next to the panel until I’m done editing it. It can be useful sometimes but at this point objects are not always positioned correctly on the pop out, and it only works for panels with no horizontal scrolling. It can be useful for hunting down objects when they seem to disappear, though.

Pictures 1. and 2. show the panel in place, 3. shows it popped out like a folder after swiping left on it.

To get horizontal scrolling panels to pop out like this is going to be a complicated programming problem & thinking about it is starting to give me one of those headaches but I’m confident Pierre is up to the challenge. ;-P

Nice find, Carolyn Boyle but alas, I can’t get it to work here. 🙁

Whooh, that’s totally unwanted! Congratulation for finding this 😉

I am curious to know what action is set on “swipe left” ?

Pierre Hébert there’s absolutely nothing attached to swipe left. It happens every time I create a panel. I kind of like it, as a matter of fact. It makes setting up the panels easier. I just got a new phone and it happens on the new phone too. I transferred my backups from my old phone so maybe there’s something in there that’s causing it, but I don’t want it to go away 🙂 I will email you a backup file. I’m curious to see if you can get it to happen from that.

    Thanks for the archives 😉

I think I found the root cause of this unexpected behavior: the gesture was previously set to open an existing folder, then this folder has been removed but the gesture has not been modified. After this, a panel has been created. Internally, folders and panels share a lot and in particular a “slot” : the new panel is using the slot that was previously used by the folder then freed. Since folders are panels (internally), the app was able to use the panel as a folder in order to display it in a window. But since LL is not designed to display the same folder content at two different locations simultaneously, it explains the problem with the original panel not being clickable.
