By widgets settings I mean the actual widgets settings, I put a widget on my lockscreen and tried to change its settings but this just unlocked the phone so I tried long pressing it to change it but the options not there.

The menu is shown only if the widget can be changed…theoretically

Try it by scrolling to actual desktop of Lockscreen, with phone already unlocked.

Confirmed, was also wondering. Sometimes it’s there, most times not.

It depends on the widget configuration. Specifically there is a link to the configuration screen, if it is filled, LL will display the option. A notable case where this configuration link is not filled is zooper. In older android version the power toggles widget had this link, but not in newer version for instance.
