This post could have been in the “App update news” section but it’s right place is here because I need your feedback.
Sorry for the poor video quality, bugs can be seen, and there is no audio, no comment, not even text (OT: by the way could someone suggest a decent and cheap video editor for Mac? I really like Camtasia but my trial ended, and the price is a bit expensive. It is worth every penny but I only make at most two videos a years…)
Back on topic now. I’d like to show a preview of what I am working on at the moment. This is a major UI rework to make editing faster. In short it consists in new bottom and right toolbars that can be shown/hidden using a little arrow in the bottom right corner (sorry no left handed mode yet). The content scaling is partly inspired by a post from TrianguloY .
There are also some utility boxes that can be shown/hidden too: one at the top for operations found in the usual popup menu (edition, position, actions), and one at the bottom for item properties (partly implemented on the video). This properties box will display settings that are now found under customize/item/more. The benefit of these toolbox is that they are “sticky”: select another item and the boxes are updated with the newly selected item values.
Also shown on the video are new undo/redo buttons, and new snapping options. No more confirmation on folder deletion, it can be undone 🙂 Folders can be cloned too (all items in fact).
This version is currently far from a beta and even from an alpha but I would really like to know your opinion on this new UI. I know this is uneasy to understand and feel it just by watching the video (without any comment…), if someone is interested in playing with it I will be able to provide a direct link to a snapshot tomorrow.

I think I’m having a weird bug… For some reason the trial counter just froze.
I’m using the trial version until I can afford it. But after a week and a half I remembered about the counter and came to see it, just to find that it doesn’t decreased for quite some time. As you can see by my last post there, the trial should have ended many time ago.
The only thing I did was update the launcher. I’m using a Moto X 2013 and I’m at 4.4.4.
So, I’m really liking Lightning Launcher, put I’m having an issue with pinned elements.
So, I’m really liking Lightning Launcher, put I’m having an issue with pinned elements… they aren’t staying put! Are there any known bugs with that feature?
If it helps, I’m using a vertically scrolling setup with two desktops on a Note 3.
I really have been using LL for more than 2years, but there is still only one thing i can’t understand…Stop Point :P
You know, Stop Point has ‘match edges’.
My question is… What is ‘match edges’?
]]>Question about an unexpected behaviour.
Why the ‘image’ of an item (the setImage()) is always displayed with a size of 100×100?
If I run this script:
var i=LL.getEvent().getItem();
var im=LL.createImage(400,400);
var p=new Paint();
p.setColor(Color.RED);
im.draw().drawRect(50,50,350,350,p);
i.setImage(im);
What I expected is to display the image of the item with a red box in the middle.
But instead it shows part of the red box on the bottom left corner (concretely, the 100×100 top left part of the full image)
It happens the same with a smaller picture, in this case it is showed at the top left part.
Is this a bug? An unexpected behaviour? (A problem of my device/layout? )
It is easy to apply a scale before drawing, but I wanted to ask.
Also, is it always 100×100?

Action Launcher 3.3 is OUT NOW
Grab it from the Play Store now: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.actionlauncher.playstore
First up with this release is an open source API[1] that allows live wallpaper developers to that use it to ensure Quicktheme color matching is 100% up to date with the current wallpaper. Minima[2]/Minima Pro[3] highlights this feature extremely well. As someone who’s been using this feature for a few weeks, I can tell you it’s really great when your wallpaper colors randomly cycle and items such as your search box animate to the new colors automatically.
Also new is a fully customizable gesture and shortcut system. This feature has been highly requested for a long time, and it’s been pleasing to see how how happy beta testers have been with the level of customization available here.
There’s a lot more goodies in store with Action Launcher 3.3, so check out the full change log:
• NEW: Live wallpaper API support, enabling Quicktheme to reliably work with live wallpaper apps. For an example of this in action, check out the excellent Minima Pro.
• NEW: Shortcuts & gestures (Settings -> Shortcuts) both expanded and fully customizable. Gestures supported include: single/double/triple tap Home button; double/triple tap empty space; swipe up single/two fingers; swipe down single/two fingers; swipe left screen edge/swipe leftmost Home screen/swipe right screen edge/swipe rightmost Home screen; and pinch in/out.
• NEW: Ability to configure action taken by a gesture. Actions include load an app, load a shortcut, toggle All Apps, toggle Quickdrawer, toggle Quickpage, open Action 3 settings, display overview mode, lock/unlock desktop, lock device, open recents, open notifications, open text search and open voice search.
• NEW: When searching, use Google search box overlay instead of switching into the Google app. Can be changed via Settings -> Shortcuts -> Global search mode.
• NEW: As requested, an additional Donate option has been added for people who are so inclined (Settings -> Help -> Donate).
• NEW: Animate to/from the All Apps background color when opening/closing All Apps (requires Android 5.0 or later).
• NEW: Home screen indicators updated to match Android 5.1’s style.
• NEW: Allow importing of Action 3 layouts by other launchers. Thanks Kevin from Nova for the prod here.
• IMPROVEMENT: Gesture detection works over icons as well as empty space.
• IMPROVEMENT: Shortcuts to open notification panel works on Samsung devices running Android 5.x (requires granting access to the Accessibility system unfortunately).
• IMPROVEMENT: Size and positioning of Google search widget perfectly matches with the Google app on tablets.
• IMPROVEMENT: “Remove Shutter” option is available both when picking up and putting down a Shutter and from the overflow menu.
• CHANGE: No longer default to opening Google Now when swiping right on leftmost Home screen. This option can be configured via Settings -> Shortcuts -> Leftmost Home screen -> App -> Google.
• CHANGE: Increase default double/triple tap delay to 275 milliseconds.
• FIX: Use light touch effect when Up button is pressed in Settings.
• FIX: If a Shutter/folder is open on the Quickpage, don’t close Shutter/folder and Quickpage with the same swipe gesture.
• FIX: Fix behavior oddities when changing settings via the “Action 3 Settings” All Apps item.
• FIX: Misc. stability fixes.

]]>Hello
it’s my first message here! I bought LL some months ago, however I started tu “study” it only the last one.
This week alone was enough to understand I can really do exactly what I want with my home page, so I’m ver happy I didn’t make a “wrong” buy 😀
Reading posts in this community I’ve understood for now I need help of third party apps to do everything, like Tasker or Zooper Widget or KLWP, so for know I won’t ask for new features, but I’ll wait what Pierre will decide even if the idea to have an “only Lightning Launcher” home was intriguing.
Before my first two requests, I would like to say that I know how to program so I was able to understand scripts and general logic, but I never worked with javascript (but it’s quite easy for me), and mainly with graphics.
For this reason I started to adapt what the community in general already made, and I’m happy I was able to build a first “skeleton”.
After done this, I’ve the following two requests I wasn’t able to read about in the community.
1) Is it possible to use ZWUtilities variables directly in LL? Main idea is to change panel background or icon colors according to schemes already done with ZWUtilities, so without creating and using a Zooper Widget.
2) Is it possible to create via script a slidebar similar to the “old” Touch3d UI? Here is a link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZKCVxp00HQ
As you can see, we would need a panel/folder, and every element will be a shortcut to other panels/folders. When sliding over it we would have to dim background and show title/icon of corresponding folder, “underlining” the correct button, while directly clicking on an icon would bring us the right folder. I think video is enough clear.
My dream would be to have many 1×1 widgets on the so-called “main dock panel” so we can have like dynamic icons. I hope using widgets instead of normal “elements” (apps or shortcuts) don’t give too much further problems.
Thanks for your attention.
