Hi, guys.

Hi, guys.

Until now, I’ve never used more than one desktop in LL Extreme. Now, with all the new function and great ideas taken from here, I’m thinking to prepare a secundary desktop. And I have a question about it. Is there any way to prevent back button to return to main desktop when you click it in secundary desktop?. IMHO, this is a key function when you are in the main desktop and you want to return to main screen from any place (an open folder, an displayed sidebar…). But, to make the secoundary desktop really operative, it’s a bit annoying to return to main desktop every time you click back button.

Is there a way to make this button function in a independent way on each desktop?. I just want to use another way to switch desktop.

Thanks, guys.

Not an exact solution: create scenario when change desktop also restart launcher.. this will clear back button movement to previous desktop.

Thanks, Abednego JS. How do you create that scenario?. Inside LL or using another app (Tasker)?

I say this is not an exact solution because of that.., I cant make auto restart after change desktop (for now).. so I have to go through some additional action, like restart button (can be hidden) or anything that make you trigger action to restart launcher.. I dont know about another app because I dont use them

Now I get it, thanks for the tip, Abednego JS.

Indeed, this may be a way to get my aim, it works. I’ll suggest Pierre Hébert to add a feature to prevent back button to switch between desktops. Thanks again.

In current LL with no feature about back key action, there is a way to implement Abednego JS ‘s idea, but some tools and condition.

In order to restart LL, we may have to have a phone rooted, and use Tasker or some other specific Task killing app.

I’ve just tested it and no problem. but

I think it may be a little overload…

I’m not sure restarting LL is good or not good. Somehow it looks good for memory refresh(?) …

    well..

I think something like this has been asked before., but I am too lazy to search all over place (because too much post appear in just one day)

    ^^

And I didnt use any additional apps ( tasker too, I dont know anything about it >< and I think LL option ability to kill and restart itself is more than enough so we dont have to use other task killing app that will consume more memory even in small time ) that appear many times in this community so maybe there are better solutions than mine

I have 9 desktops in LL. Well, 9 screens, but I think that’s what you mean. I use the LL super screen switcher with different apps on each screen. When I run an app from any screen and then hit the home button, it goes back to that screen, not the main (original) screen.

This is the only annoying thing about my setup. I ask for an option under ‘events and actions’ weeks ago if possible but I know it’s probably not high on list. As for the restart Desktop, that doesn’t work as doing so makes whatever Desktop you were on during the restart like the Home Desktop. It becomes the last Desktop the Launcher remains on.

Which I think might be a Bug as I do not understand why a restart ‘or crash of’ the Launcher make the Launcher remain on that screen even though going into settings shows the Home Desktop is still correct but you must return to the Home Desktop and restart to get the Launcher working correctly…. I don’t know maybe Pierre Hébertcan look at this

Not a bug, but I agree that the current behaviour is odd.

    What happens exactly is:

    – the launcher saves the last visited desktop, and when restarted open this one

    – the launcher keeps track of visited desktops, and using the back key goes nackward through this history. BUT this history is not saved

The consequence is that when stopping the launcher while on screen #2starting for instance, it will start again on desktop #2, but the back key will do nothing because the history has been cleared.

At the moment I don’t know how to handle the thing properly because the back key is linked with a lot of actions. This is rather difficult to manage, but this nevertheless a popular request…

Pierre Hébert , I think feature like “restart launcher after desktop changes” can be a temporary solution ( for everyone who need to seal the back button behavior in multiple desktop case ) until the real solution is come

In this case clearing the history would be enough.

But on a side not the whole area of events and action has to be refreshed. And the back key handling would directly benefit of this.

Pierre Hébert , I really want to see what will you do ( to solve this problem ) for the next (or later) update

I have no doubt you’ll figure it out 🙂

Thanks, Pierre Hébert . IMHO, a good solution would be prevent back button to switch through that history. Indeed, LL bring us many other ways to do that (for instance, with an shortcut action). Anyway, I’m sure too you’ll get the right solution. Until then, Abednego JS ‘s tip allows me to use each desktop in an independent way. Thanks you too.
