I’ve noticed my drawer taking several seconds to load.. Plenty of ram and cpu, it’s not the phone, could be something I’m missing besides the memory setting

The more apps you have, the more time it will take to load. But in theory it should only take more time the first time it is loaded after a app restart. If not, then something is wrong. Do you use V12.2 or a previous version?

One second is (IMHO) not so bad, considering that according to my profiling, 200ms are taken by the system to launch the activity and 400 are eaten by the animation.

But my best advice is: do not use the app drawer, Lightning has been designed to leave the app drawer closed 😉

1 second eh I agree with Pierre sort of but I wouldn’t say its “not so bad” IMO 1 second is amazing! Id be buzzing with that even though its instant on my device, im sure Corey would be to seeing as his takes “several seconds”

I can honestly say I have quite a few apps but he’s right about the drawer, hell most of my important most used stuff is launched by “other” methods 😉

it normally takes about 2 seconds for me on a bad day but lately its been taking 15 seconds with a popup (Lightning Launcher is not responding. Do you want to close?) With the wait and close buttons. That has happened at least 4 times today since latest update.

The only thing i did as of recent was install a few apps extra (4 apps), update a few apps, and deleted some pictures. Other than that i see nothing really… what, smoking a cigarette while listening to six feet under?

Anyway in my case it doesnt seem to be an issue with animation or the app number, but it could be.

With this said i did notice something : the transition bug between first and last page was fixed, but it created another wierd behavior. I call it [mating season amongst a group of …. apps in this case]. By this i mean that a bunch of apps are now on top of each other (you figure out what i meant by what was said in [ ]). The fix was to scroll the drawer or refresh. 🙂

Pierre Hébert same number to apps took noticeably shorter time to load in nova. I am using the latest version for both launchers.

Is Nova able to display all apps at once in a grid, and has Nova the same level of customization ? My previous suggestion remain valid anyway.

Nova launcher may load it’s app drawer a tiny bit faster but it’s still a cave man in terms of evolution compared to lightning.. If you want a fast app drawer make one with a desktop using jus the apps you’re gonna use the most. Even a panel will make a better app drawer than Nova can.. Don’t get me wrong I’ll always be a fan of Nova but it is not even in the same class as this

My comparison stems from setting up llx with same widgets as my former launcher, and in a similar set up. I think customisation must be traded off with performance.

There is a balance like with jus about everything in life, less ability may give a lil more speed most times, but it’s all down to personal preference… I jus made an app drawer with a panel and put it on a page in the launcher and it is even faster than Nova, but I’m sure that’s because nothing has to load
