There is a problem with the new per item rotation and panels.
I create a panel with 1×3 dimensions (3 is its height). Both the containing desktop and panel grid have the same parameters, the grid cells are square shaped.
I put two app shortcuts into the panel. The center home screen inside the panel is empty, one of the shortcuts is placed onto the middle cell of the left screen, and the other shortcut is placed onto the middle cell of the right screen in the panel. This way they aren’t visible normally.
Now set the auto rotate option of the panel item.
What happens that the two icons will nicely rotate into view when the phone is held sideways.
The problem is that they can’t be clicked.

But… there is one thing I don’t understand, these icons should not become visible ? When the panel is rotated it shouldn’t allow it to display more things on its left or right sides. I captured a short screencast : http://youtu.be/ECX9D8EzxS0, is my understanding of your setup correct ?

Yep, the setup seems to be similar.

Ah ah ! The only difference between our videos is the panel border. Disabling it on my device produces the same effect, tada !
Good, I need to investigate this now…
