   I couldn’t make it fail. Is there something I should do to reproduce the problem?

   
   

   Padding is always empty (part of the content). I wonder whether it has something to do with the selection effect. If you switch to plain for instance, does the selected color appear, or is the modification lost (value not saved)?

   With the holo effect, the thin “shadow” should be colored with the selection color. It should be more or less the same with ripples on Android 5 although 5.1 behaves differently again 🙁
