The “Configure desktop” setting shows only 5 of the 10 screens I have configured.

The “Configure desktop” setting shows only 5 of the 10 screens I have configured. These screens were configured before setting were imported to LL Extreme.

If I add an LL Screen Switcher list widget this also shows only 5 screens until I go to Widget Options › Select Visible Screens. Here all 10 screens are already selected as they should be. When I return to the main screen all 10 screens are now showing in the visible widget.

That’s right, this widget won’t work properly in this release. It will need to be replaced with builtin features (screen&position shortcuts and configure desktop screen). The super screen switcher is still online but it will be officially deprecated at the time the final 8.0 release goes online, and unpublished soon. I recommend to use shortcuts which are much more customizable and efficient.

    Thanks!

FYI the screen switcher Widgets that were imported all work as expected.

    Two problems with using shortcuts:

    1. I use the list to make a bar of the icons of my screens. This can be easily positioned and edited.

Using screen shortcuts means I have make 10 individual icons then position and edit each one individually… that is not more efficient in my option.

    2. Currently the screen shortcut only shows 5 screens instead of my 10. I understand this isn’t wired yet…

Ok, I understand the problem. Well, I will see what I can do with this widget. For technical reasons this plugin becomes very difficult to maintain : desktop management is at the heart of the launcher and it is difficult to handle this externally. Probably I can continue to support it inside LLX for some time, but most likely not LL.

I understand, thanks. Having it only in LLX is OK with me.

Was the Configure Desktop setting showing only 5 screens bug fixed in 8.x?

I didn’t updates the widget and the problem is in the widget, not in the launcher itself. The builtin configure desktop screen is the one you should use, even if it does not match the widget. Using this screen you should be able to add more desktops (this will not overwrite existing ones).

I am using the configure desktops in the app. As I have said I have 10 desktops but the configure desktops in the app shows only 5 of those. So there is no way to edit the ones that are not showing.

Also, the Screen & Position shortcut shows only 5 of the existing 10 desktops, so I can’t set the shortcut to the desired screen.

Add more desktops with the configure desktop screen, then it will be possible to select more desktops

Sorry to be a bother… are you saying that if I add a desktop with the desktop configuration screen that I should then be able to select all my currently existing desktops? If so, that did not work…

You need to add 5 I think

No that just adds 5 new desktops… it does not give access to my pre-existing screens.

Just so we are clear on the problem…

I Backup my prevoius setup which I made LL before the beta version. That setup has 10 desktops which could all be accessed.

But after Restoring into LLX only 5 of those desktops appear in the Configure Desktop section and in the screen and position shortcut.

The 5 desktops that do not appear are still there and can be accessed with the old screen switcher widget.

If your screens are 1 to 10, but LLX display 1 to 5, then you need to “activate” them in the configure desktop screen. Adding screens will not overwrite existing data but rather it will enable their configuration (label and icon). I believe that if you add more desktops, their content will appear in the preview.

The problem is being created when a new install of LLX imports settings, etc.

To get around this issue I had to uninstall LLX. Open LL 7.11 and Backup the settings with the 10 desktops. Then reinstall LLX and do a Restore of the backup.

This made all 10 desktops available but the names and icons of the desktops had all been reset to the default.

I think I understood (parts) of the bug. Could you try to clear LLX data and restart it so that it imports data from LL, then immediately after restart LLX by long tapping on the all apps icon and selecting kill ?

Pierre Hébert I am unclear about what you mean by “all apps icon”?

This is the shortcut to the app drawer (the grid of white little squares). This shortcut is placed on the default setup, but you can reach it through the list of apps if you removed it since.
