    Of course it’s different! 😀

    Folder options are the options of the folder, so item options (inside folder options) are referring to the items inside the folder. The same as if you open the folder and long click in the background-> customize folder.

    Customize/more is referring to the item, so it will change the settings of the folder’s icon itself.

    Uhm…If you misunderstood, others will do the same. Now that you know the difference, how will you name it, to avoid confusion? I think it’s ok, but maybe you (or someone else) can think of a better one.

    Ha ha.. my bad. Thank you for the clarification…

    I see Folder = Folder

    Contents = Folder Contents

    I know it may be an archaic linear train of thought, but directory structure is modeled on libraries and books/folders/files.. so with the book model there is a cover and contents, a folder is just a cover so it simplifies to folder and contents. I’m well aware that items are things which may be contained, but the fluidity of english allos it also to be read as ‘facets of the appearance of the folder’

    I’d hate to suggest a rename because of my misreading, given that the reader is as much a contributor to a text as an author… maybe if the issue was recurring then it would validate further considetation…

    Cheers

    Don’t worry, even advanced users can misunderstood easy things. And the ‘folders options’ is a new feature in 8.8.1.

    It’s true that English allows to ‘a lot of meanings’ but maybe the more you know it, the more you can misunderstand things (are you native? Because I’m not, and I didn’t know that other meaning)

    Sorry if I sounded a bit arrogant, that wasn’t my intention, sorry.

    P.S. you can modify your posts/replies here in Google+, not need to add a new one 😉

    Thanks again. Yes english as a first language… big thumbs and little keyboard though ; )

    No offence taken.. no arrogance assumed. Your help is much appreciated.

    Another problem with english is dialectic, however I notice that in general conversation on a global scale the majority work to see past that.

    All good

    unfortunately the fact that I am not a native English speaker is probably the root cause of misunderstanding when reading menus and options titles…
