Hi!

Hi! Since a few days ago, widgets do not update on any desktop/screen. None of them do (yahoo weather, google calendar, google now, etc.). Not even the alarm widget does. When I touch the clock symbol, an alarm symbol appears on my notification panel, meaning that the widget is working, but the alarm symbol does not turn from grey to green to indicate that the alarm is on, like it did before.

I am using v. 12.5.2 (R2313) in a Samsung Galaxy S3, Android 4.3 with Rogers Canada.

Restarting the phone updates the widgets, but only once, and they remain in that state until I restart the phone again.

Normally you can solve problems with widgets by re-adding them.

I already tried that, but it did not work. Adding the new widget will of course update it to most recent info, but then it gets stuck there forever.

At first I thought it was a problem of yahoo weather, because in the newest version they require to have GPS active to update weather, but then I notice that it was not only yahoo weather, but also Google Now, and Alarms, and Calendar not working. So I deleted the yahoo weather widget to see if it was stuck trying to get a GPS lock and that was somehow affecting the other widgets. But after a few hours without the yahoo weather widget, I saw that the rest of the widgets were not updating either. So I decided to write here to ask for help.

Do they still update in another launcher?

It often happens on samsung but I have no solution. The android widget manager is stuck. Maybe there are too much widgets, or one is too large. What you can try is to make a backup, uninstall, reinstall and reload the backup.

Hi Pierre! Thanks for your answer. Same way as it came, it went. Yesterday I noticed that widgets were working again. As far as I remember, I did nothing special to solve the issue.

No update usually means that there are too many data to refresh, and the widget manager gives up (as far as I understand). Do you have many widgets on your home screen ? Or maybe a large one with lots of entries (such as a big email widget) ?

I have 3 widgets on my desktop: Calendar and Keep in main screen, and Now on the screen to the right.

I also have 3 widgets on the lock screen: Yahoo Weather, Transit and Google Books.

Until last week, I only had isolated problems with the Transit widget, but last week, all of them stopped updating, without any change in my configuration.
