Nexus 5

I really like the concept of rotating individuall apps in place. The bug I see is that after the items rotate, the whole screen also rotates itself as it always had done previously. So the apps rotate and then everything on the screen flashes and re-orients itself.

Just go to desktop settings, miscellaneous and select a ‘lock’ orientation, instead of gyro or system default

Maybe lock it into portrait (or landscape) 😉 (option found in desktop miscellaneous settings).

I don’t want to automatically force portrait or landscape when using rotation, because you never know how the feature will be used: there will always be someone with a new idea to combine things in a new way.

Thanks that fixed it. Is there anyway that I can get set the system to rotate automatically, but lock the contents of folders into portrait?

Folders windows will follow the desktop rotation (always) but you can configure item rotation differently between desktop and folders (and panels too)
