Say you want all desktops, folders, panels,… with the same background, same borders, margins, font, colors,…
You have to change the settings for each new object you create. I would like to see the possibility to choose default layout settings of objects. I know it’s possible to copy them from an existing one, but would like it to be set once and for all…
Possible? Desirable? Too hard to code?

You can save all settings in a style, then apply this style on desktops, folders, panel. You need to do this for each container but this is an intermediate solution between the individual item copy style and the “apply to everything” operation which does not exist.
A dirty hack would be to copy a given configuration file onto the configuration of all other containers. That could be scripted but I don’t really recommend that though.
As for the desirable question, this is partly desirable: I think that often copying some attributes from a container to all other ones make sense, but not all. At least not if containers are of different kind. Copying all attributes between containers of the same type makes more sense.
