Another feature request: a swipe from edge option.

Another feature request: a swipe from edge option. That way one can create sliding folders and have them open when you swipe in from an edge. The normal swiping option would then happen when you start swiping further away from the edge. (Ideally there’d be a setting in LL that allows you to specify percent or pixels for the edge swipe area).

(disclosure: I have only started with LL a few days ago and there may be ways to do this that I haven’t found yet.)

I have actually done this plenty of times before using a stretched out icon or other item invisible right at the screen edge instead and set the swipe action on it. It works just as efficient as the edge swipe because it’s the same region that is activated.. If he were to add a swipe from the edge it would use the exact same space so give it a try works really well detached the object from the grid and make it very narrow to adjust your sensitivity

Have been playing with it a bit, but I can’t get it working. I’ve got 6 screens setup (a grid of 3×2). Currently I’ve got an object pinned to the right side that slides a folder in (from right) when I tap it. If I create a sliding folder, align it to the right side, and set the swipe left action to open a specific folder, I can swipe all I want from the right edge, but all that happens is that I move the screens in the grid.

Can you elaborate on how to get it working? Can it work in a grid setup where there are screens left/right up and down?

    Cheers!

Olger Diekstra ok it is slightly different from the edge but not much its jus been a while but I jus tried it and you have to touch it slightly and swipe, not come directly off from the edge so it’s basically like an icon swipe you just do it from the very edge of the screen.. Then use an icon stretch it and make it about at least a quarter of an inch wide and pin it into place. Make it as wide as you need to accurately hit it. its not changing the pages on mine as long as you initially start from within that box of the icon and you can swipe out of the box and it won’t change the screen. It is damn close to the edge gesture just a tiny bit more precise

Hmm. have been playing with it the past few days, but it’s nowhere near a proper slide from edge. It’s finicky and you need to touch and hold briefly to activate. But not hold it long enough to go into edit mode.

I think offering this as standard functionality from the launcher (ie standard swipe left/right and a separate swipe left/right from edge and the ability to define a hotarea in pixels or percent) will work much better and more like other launchers.
