There is an option in miscellaneous: rearrange items which theoretically do this automatically, but only when you move an item.
What about select a sort (for example AZ ) and sort the items automatically when the folder is opened (if folder), when the desktop is shown (if desktop/panel), and when the app drawer is opened (if app drawer)?
Or just maybe with folders, in the ‘extra folder options’ menu.
What do you think? Could it be possible?

I find that rearrange items tends to scatter and jumble all of the icons.. So I agree with you, I was expecting the sort functions to be included in that.. Not just as a menu option
