Allow size as %

Allow size as %

Since the saved desktops are able to be installed on devices wit diffrent resolutions I believe they could benifet cross device with this.

Great for folder size and panels. Possibly other areas like font and icons if possible. Columns and rows pretty much already do this.

So are the panels going to have backrounds?

The problem with this is that this is not accurate enough. On nowadays huge resolution screens,  1% means a lot of pixels. Going under the percent (for instance 53.71%) is rather odd. And it creates artifacts because of rounding too. I think that the best way (currently) is to convert fixed sizes as percentage, and handle this upon importation. As of today the original screen size is saved in a template file, so as to be able to scale things when imported on another device.

That said, handling sizes has a number of benefits, even when used on the same device. For instance if you hide the status bar, the available screen space increases, and you don’t have to resize everything if using %.

And yes panels have background, same as items in fact, through the box settings.

If size is already taken care of during import of templates then this request is not important.
