Sorry for the crash, there was a specific test for pre kit kat devices but it wasn’t just enough. tested on 4.3 and 4.4 but not on older versions… An update will appear soon.
Lukas Morawietz did you try to restart the launcher, maybe the connection with the google service has to be restarted after the hotword detection settings are changed ?

Pierre Hébert yes, I tried even restarting my phone. For testing I placed a google search widget on my homescreen. When hotword detection is active, the mic should be filled. It is indeed filled when I enter LLX from another app, but turns to unfilled a second later

speaking of this im looking for a widget that, when i tap on it, brings up the little voice popup instead of opening the google now app. for example i have a voice gallery app that allows me to find photos with voice and it brings up the popup. but when i try to use the built in google widget it opens the app. its annoying. can anyone help?

Strange things happening here. I have a 4.3 phone. The new beta arrived yesterday morning while I was at work. I installed it and enabled hotwords, but didn’t spend any time playing (would have annoyed my colleagues). There was another update later and the hotwords option has now disappeared!
(Now on revision 1760 for what it’s worth)

Hotwords is only available for 4.4. I added a check to hide the option on devices with previous Android versions, but I don’t remember exactly whether it was between the update or not (it is likely!).
