v12.4b2 beta

v12.4b2 beta

Edit: 12.4b3 to fix major issues, but another beta will follow for sure.

It’s finally here, and it packs a lot of modifications.

The editor has seen a lot of changes with many small and big improvements such as the ability to snap items when resizing them not only when moving, or fully functional item cloning (including folder and all its content), undo/redo, new editor bars for fast access to frequently used features, ability to edit items properties directly in the desktop, reworked menu, and so on.

Also there is a new “Run in” option when selecting a script to be run from elsewhere (Tasker and other compatible apps). This way you can select whether the script is executed for the desktop, the app drawer, the lock screen (not ready yet, will crash, lol) or in background. This last mode will not display the desktop when running a script but it is subject to important limitations. Please read the note about this in http://www.pierrox.net/android/applications/lightning_launcher/wiki/doku.php?id=working_with_tasker. I don’t know how it will behave in real world use cases. Please let me know how it works (or not) for you.

This versionalso  includes the Android Palette API which can be used from scripts to extract color from an image (sample code in the wiki http://www.pierrox.net/android/applications/lightning_launcher/wiki/doku.php?id=script_palette). I hope to be able to extend the color picker with this Palette later.

And more smaller goodies can be found in the ChangeLog…

I hope I didn’t broke everything while adding this stuff 😉

Great! Going to try this out, esp. the background scripting trigger by Tasker once it gets updated on play store (still showing 12.3.1 for me)

I just checked out the API reference and setLabel for items is now deprecated, what should we use to set labels instead then? And is this function background-capable? Trying to build a more flexible dynamic text item to get rid of all my widgets …

Is this an official app store update or do we need to download it from somewhere?

James Coyle you need to sign up here, and the update will come when it comes …

Wern-Yuen Tan this function is deprecated on the Item class only, not for Shortcut, because it was previously used to get/set a name on item, and has been replaced with setName/getName. You can use the version with the “persistent” parameter, it will work great.

Pierre Hébert great, just received the update. Since you would know best … for the “clock” data on dynamic text, is there an easy way for me to isolate each of the four digits of HHMM and put them in four separate items?

If not, I guess I need to create a clock script separately and pause/resume the script, which was what I was working previously, but it just felt a bit unwieldy

Pierre Hébert As this is the third time I see someone asking (me included) about the setlabel on item level, ho wabout either remove the entry or give a hint for shortcuts?

Pierre Hébert awesome! And even more awesome: Undo!! +1000!

Edit 1: Honestly, after playing with it for half a minute, I must say this is a big leap forward. Thanks a lot!

Edit 2: wasn’t able to write a play store review (using beta blah blah).

Wern-Yuen Tan yes you need to use resume/pause event and format the clock yourself (if needed a sample is available here http://www.pierrox.net/cmsms/applications/lightning-launcher/scripting.html)

Lukas Morawietz this is because the tool to build the doc is a custom one, it doesn’t allow to write doc for deprecated methods, I need to update. I will simply hide it for the moment, but the method will remain here for compatibility.

Hit a bug. Long tap a panel -> settings -> panel goes to desktop settings. You need to be in edit mode first to go into panel settings.

Pierre Hébert Awesome! Sounds like you’ve been busy, and we all have a bunch of new toys to play with. Thank you!

André Bonhôte goes to panel settings for me. :/

Not always (for me at least). Try this: create a folder, go directly to its settings. Then close the settings and go to the panel’s settings. I’m trying to upload a video in the bug report section as we speak.

    Awesome update!!!

Currently 2 bug report for the app drawer 🙂

James Coyle thanks, but that didn’t work. I wanted to hide all icon labels in a folder. This way the folder item will lose its labels.

André Bonhôte just tap on an empty space in the container (or tap again on the selected item) and you will edit properties for this given container. This is why I fully removed the Items menu in the settings screen.

Pierre Hébert sorry, don’t get it. I’d like to resize all icons in a given folder. Didn’t find a way to do this. I can modify the window, the animation and everything, but not the items attributes.

This shouts for a tutorial 🙂

André Bonhôte  if you don’t select any item and display the properties box using the painter icon (in the desktop, edit mode, third icon from left in the bottom bar) then the settings will apply to all items, unless they have been individually customized, in which case they will keep their custom value.

This way, changing the scale once will be applied to all items in the container. I am actually preparing a tutorial on this but it is not ready yet, sorry.

N’ da please follow the subscribe link in the “About this community” box. Then the beta update will come through Google Play as if it was a normal version.

Could “Widgets Options” be more prominent, easier accessable, please?

(hhmm, just to late for b3, i see)

Pierre Hébert i think there’s a scaling problem when switching orientation in b3.

Even better, I (re)send you my template.

Thanks but a screenshot would be nice too because the issue may not look the same on all devices due to variations, for instance, in the position/size of the navigation bar in landscape
