Dear Community
Apologize for my long silence… It’s time for an update. Let’s make it short and clear so that it doesn’t become too boring 😉
My current availability is near zero. Since I’m the only developer of the app, the natural consequence is that the project is on hold. And as far as I can see, this isn’t going to change before 4 full months. I’m really missing Android apps development in general, and this community in particular, but most probably I won’t be back before end of March or beginning of April 2018. At the very best I’ll only be able to release some quick emergency update at the end of the year, but even that is not a certain thing.
Still, I’m worried about the current status of the app, which has some important issues that require fixing. And if I recall correctly there’s also a beta in progress… but that’s another issue! Trying to find a way to go on, but I can only see two options. Either find someone to help me on the project, or make the project open source. Both options have major difficulties though, so nothing is really progressing yet.
To sum up: the project is not dead, but on hold. I’m willing to resume it and I’m currently considering several options. However nothing is done yet.
I’m afraid this isn’t very good news… although not so bad neither maybe! Anyway, I’d like to warmly thank people in this community for their involvement. Without any doubt, there would be no Lightning Launcher without this community. Thanks!

… those 3 magical words “the project is not dead” …err…5 words. That’s all I wanted to hear.

Thank you for the update

Iam looking forward to your update of the best launcher! 🙂

Welcome back Pierre Hébert.
I hope that you can resume this project, because I consider it excellent. The idea of making it open source is not bad (I’m fan Linux;)), only that we need to find a team of volunteers for the development of the code.
For the Italian translation: here I am!!! I have translated the previous versions and I will be happy to collaborate again on this project.
I’m not able to program. So volunteers programmers go ahead! Always that you want to make your project public and open source;).
Thank’s for your job.

Thank you for the update!
I’d love to help in the development, but I don’t think I could do it before February and so I’ll probably won’t be that helpful…
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Hey Pierre Hébert! I’m glad you’re back (at least more or less). Could I be of any help?
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Nice to hear you again. I’ll be glad to help too with any option you consider.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Thank you for the news
Why nearly 1 year of silence and now saying 3 or 4 more months ?
It sounds something bad in real life. Or very busy at work.
Good luck Pierre. Hope your launcher will survive.

< ![CDATA[
Pierre Hébert Thanks for letting us know, and hope all is well. If we can be of any help, just shout …
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Wow, I am really glad to see here again!
…I am waiting for the update..until my life is end! lol

< ![CDATA[
Nice to hear from you. Too often our time is not our own, however much we would like it otherwise. Best of luck on your current endeavors and we will see you when its time

I only learned about LL a month ago (was exclusively using Action Launcher) & I LOVE the customizability of this launcher.
I, as a newcomer, really appreciate your update & am glad to hear the project isn’t dead. I wish you the best Pierre Hébert & look forward to future updates.

It’s Christmas Time! Time, when beautiful things can happen 😘 I am very happy that’s you,Pierre , is alive. Our Lil community needed just few simple words from our magician. sending Love and Positiveness and Power to you all

< ![CDATA[
Thanks for your words Pierre Hébert ! There’s nothing worst than silence. It lets others imagine everything and oftenly bad things (for and/or about you).
Glad to have some news and to hear you’re still involved in this project in a way or another.
I hope to see you back soon fit and in good shape.
Enjoy!

That few golden words were a reassurance for all LL users that the project is live. Now we all wish you all the best and patiently await your return. Thanks.

Would love to see a connection with Frank Monza at Kustom in the future if this goes open source.

< ![CDATA[
Pierre,
I would be willing to help you develop with lightning if you need help.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Thank you all for your great support and understanding! That’s good to hear, really. I’m happy to know that so many people are still following the app!
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Great to hear from you Pierre!

< ![CDATA[
Wow what an amazing surprise to see a post from you directly here! I’m not that experienced with android apps, but I’ve written many scripts in this app and I’m currently studying computer science, so after a short learning process, I’m sure I’ll be able to help 🙂
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Thank you for a wonderful launcher.
I continue using it since 2014.
I got a lot of fun and surprises that I can not think of with other launchers. Whatever way i will follow, I will continue to support the LL : )
Sorry, no good english.

< ![CDATA[
It’s about time, thanks Pierre. I haven’t used LL in over a year now due to lack of support. I’ve been dying to use it again, but now I see you’ll only be back after yet another 4-5 months. Paying for software and not getting what you paid for is not fair. So please just find a solution to whatever your problem is? This is business…not a wellfare.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I’m glad you’re alive! 🙂

Rudolph van Coppenhagen you purchased a Launcher as it existed at the time of your purchase. You got what you paid for.
In addition, the way this works is certainly NOT a workable business model.
I think Pierre should start to charge for upgrades that either add new features or to account for changes in new Android versions. Only bug fixes to current features should be included in original purchase price.
This won’t happen the way the play store currently operates, making it unfeasible as a business model because Pierre has no way to get paid for the hours he spends on this launcher. It’s basically a labor of love.
Comments such as yours are not helpful, and I’m sure there are several of us that would gladly reimburse your 1.99 (or whatever you paid) out of our own pockets just to be rid of such comments.

+Chris Chastain I am in the software game so to say as well, but more in terms of engineering since I do mechatronics on industrial scale…in laymans terms, I design, construct and automate industrial processes such as refineries, mines and power stations. Developing android apps is minute and small time in my circles.
Be as it may, business is business no matter what you do. The bottom line is – moneys paid for services rendered. The concept of playstore is to purchase once and receive updates and support. I couldn’t care less about updates because for me the launcher isgreat as it is and I have fixed many issues with it on my own. My problem is support. I hope that’s clear to you this time around. Next time if you dont understand my comment please refrain from opening your mouth

Rudolph van Coppenhagen “… Paying for software and not getting what you paid for is not fair. So please just find a solution to whatever your problem is? This is business…not a wellfare.”
That’s pretty much self explanatory.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Chris Chastain evidently not you… since I was talking about support and not updates, which is what you based your essay on
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Rudolph van Coppenhagen that isn’t at all what my “essay” was based on, but if that’s what you choose to take from it, it’s pointless to continue this…
So I won’t.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Chris Chastain it was pointless to even start it as everyone is entitled to their opinion…you know, freedom of speech and all that. So wise decision to shut up. Go back to the 60s grandpa
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Rudolph van Coppenhagen your attitude has worn thin. You are indeed entitled to your opinion, but don’t make the mistake of assuming you can continue your abrasive and denigrating posts here.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
I don’t have words… I so much happy and so much sad.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Current version still viable in Android 8 (with an icon pack)- but very much look forward to future developments.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Rudolph van Coppenhagen It’s a blast how you can combine “freedom of speech” and “shut up” in one post 😀
]]>
< ![CDATA[
It’s great to hear that the development will continue!
I would help, but it would be more than one year till there is enough time on my side as well (and I’m still beginner level).
Take your time!
Greetings from Austria!

Pierre Hébert Hello Pierre. I have posted my email on posting, if you need help I will try and see what I can do to help. I know what it’s like both in funding, time and sometimes even personal family problems. Stay strong and keep at it. You are a very clever and intelligent person so don’t give up just yet. Cheers. Angelo.

Pierre Hébert I know you’re getting bombarded with questions mate and I know you’re busy. Just a quick update on if you’re planning to come back would be awesome.
Leaving the app listed for full price but in a broken state (needing community provided hacks to get it to work even remotely) reeks of being deceptive. I don’t expect lifetime support for a few $ but it’s STILL listed on Play Store at the full price mate – come on. Do the decent thing.

Pierre Hébert Mate! You gave word that you come back after April ….. really not nice
