Pierre Hébert yesterday you said you ‘re not good at marketing, but with that pools you’ re doing the right thing 🙂

But 1 thing you may consider : asking opinion in this community is important but guys over here know really well llx and may not represents other user’s launcher opinion. So you should ask opinion from people who don’t use llx. Maybe Corey Spell could help you with it’s g+ community. You just need to rewrite your question such as ‘in a launcher, is an indicator important for you?’ ‘do you prefer horizontal or vertical scrolling?’ …

Hope this help 🙂

This is true! And I am aware of this…

A poll need to reach as many people as possible, and the LLX community is made of special people who may have at the same time a biased opinion, but also a very important one.

In the end the choice depends on many factors: I hear opinions but I don’t necessarily want to do everything based on polls: I need to find a balance between user expectations and the goals I have for the app. My aim is rather to interpret polls as a hint rather than a rule.

I see exactly what you’re saying… I personally use such a wide variety of launchers that I got a good Idea of what people like and are looking for… Also I help sooo many people from drippler and our tech community Smart Tech Tips I’ve started to see the pattern of what people are generally drawn in by… I could see LLX easily being the most popular largest earning launcher in the game with jus the right lil twist added… Like for example several different default setups to choose from each more advanced.. A beginner setup that looks and behaves very similar to like Nova or apex that has alot of the steps in the customization process shortened up.. I’ve always seen LLX as having thus potential to cover everyone’s requirements.. It’s already got the most powerful complexity there is which is truly amazing, but personally from seeing what all the people I deal with generally lean toward, I believe having different levels of complexity and setup arrangements to make it very easy for even those who jus want a polished Google Now launcher.. . More than jus an expert mode… I know it would take alot of time and work but u gotta look at the profit that could be made if millions of people jumped on LLX.. Most of those millions will go for the other launchers simply because they don’t have the time or brain power to put into it…. I’m jus saying in all honesty we all know LLX has got all the balls anyone could ever want, but the money lies with the masses bro… LLX could basically be that good looking sedan family car everyone needs but with a monster big block v8 under the hood lol… Jus a thought

Lol, I like the comparison with cars 🙂

(by the way, did you know that “v8” is a javascript engine, the one that powers chrome?)

I see what you mean about different levels of complexity. However I am not sure that having a “Basic mode” where the app would behave more like other classical (and more polished) launchers would be enough.  After all there are a lot of “classic” launchers that do not get more visibility than Lightning. Success in the Play Store results in a magical combination. Nobody knows the exact spell, lol. That being said you’re perfectly right on masses… I don’t expect to reach millions of users, Lightning has its own identity and I don’t want to make it become a fat thing for brainless people. I nevertheless work hard on making it more accessible. Not sure what the result will be though, lol!

I feel ya completely bro, I personally wouldn’t care as much about millions of people either, and I’m not the type that cars about making a ton of money.. But it would be cool if people were able to choose an easier mode and work their way up through several layers as a learning experience.. I personally would like to see some of the stuff people were using scripts for jus implemented in the launcher already but that’s jus because I’m not smart enough to learn scripting lmao but something I thought of that would be pretty cool would be like a standard set of scripts that were triggered with a lot more basic set of commands that people could choose to run scripts but not have to actually learn how to use and write the scripts. Maybe something like package that contains a certain number of scripts that do certain things that people can install on the launcher as an add-on so people could use way more complicated actions and stuff without actually having to be able to know how to write the scripts. Like something where the people here that do right the cool scripts can post them up with like a certain command line where a far less capable person could just type that in and run the script but I’m not sure what all would be involved in that it would probably be way too complicated and a pain in the ass lol

Corey Spell The problem with scripts is that it’s not possible to set it by 1 click ; you need, most of time, to retrieve an id or set a name or give a special configuration to an element… You can have the script as an apk, so you don’t need to learn scripting but llx won’t be able to know on which elements to set the script. I may be wrong but that’s how I see it.

In fact I designed script APK for this purpose. Theses packages are able to do the whole setup for you. And much more. For instance the clock sample will create an item, import a few scripts and configure the item pause/resume events to run scripts. All you have to do is load the package, et voilà enjoy your new clock on the desktop. That’s nice, but it comes at a price: it requires a lot of skills to create APKs, that’s really not a basic operation.

You know, I would love to create and play music… But one thing at a time maybe… No time for that at the moment, but maybe that someday it will be too late…
