Beta 7.90 is open !
here are two packages, chose the one you want knowing that:
– lightning_launcher_aio-7.90.apk : this is the launcher as you already know it. Not a lot of new things but massive internal changes that should deliver better performances when editing items. drawing engnes has been left untouched though.
– lightning_launcher_extreme-7.90.apk: the same, but with almost all existing addons merged in a single package, and an enhanced app drawer (with folders in the app drawer !)
Both app can be installed and used in parallel, but I would not recommend that because this is confusing (LLX will import LL setup on first launch and will look almost identical).
There is also the release 7.11 in the directory, should need to revert to the previous version. And be sure to make a backup first anyway !
Sorry, no beta through the Google Play system yet, I didn’t have the time to play with it yet. I am busy this evening, so I can’t promess to reply quickly.

My first try on LL, I thought “current screen” means “current page”. I thought I can change the settings of every page. xD

This is because in a really old version, LL has no support for scrolling inside a screen/desktop. Then I added support for multiple screens (at that time called page !!!), and only later it was possible to freely navigate inside a screen. Now the usual way to navigate is to use paging in a single screen, and for advanced setups sevral screens can be used. Fortunately one of my priorities is to reduce the confusion (which is natural…) on all this stuff.

Joost Verwaal a backup of LL data is enough. This can be done through the LL setting screen (bottom of the screen). This will create an archive that you can restore later if needed
