Question to beta testers : how does the latest beta work for you
Question to beta testers : how does the latest beta work for you ? Did you hit some big bug, or notice some dysfunction that would require a fix before the release ?
One thing is in particular is annoying me : Patrick and Bryan reported an issue with disappearing items. Has anyone else experienced this issue ?

Problems with custom folder size and position. Looks good while in edit mode, but scales down strangely when left editing.

When custom folder position, distance exceed half page, the items not shown.

No new bugs, no crashes.
Lutz Linke the problem your having related to folder size is probably you have it set to x:rows per page. Try changing it to fixed pixels per row.
hon keung chung I am not having that issue. Have you tried scrolling in the folder for the items. Perhaps your snap to page border is causing this.

I’m on v8.7.b4.2 on a fire, in th last vers or one before I was rotating a widget then resizing then rotating then scaling then resizing etc and it flew off on me, I could not find it again.
All else good, folder pos, scroll stop, scroll snap.
4.4 wallpaper positioning is a bit fiddly, I wrote a post that starts “Hey gang”

Nothing important. But I don’t use 9patch. Not yet.

Nothing important, very stable for me. Still have problems with icons pack compatibility but I know this is not part of this release…

Thanks Chris sledge Back to using a grid to crop makes it easy to centre.

Had an issue with item placement in a folder with custom size but I’m not sure if it’s a bug or not. If you dont place the items in the folder where they would be if on the desktop you can scroll past the item even with stop points set. (Folder appears empty). I know I didnt explain that well…Nothing major though.

I haven’t found any new bugs in last beta. Configuration of icon position inside folders still shows a strange behavior. Specially when you try to pin an item inside a folder. Besides that, everything goes righ here, keep on the good work

No dramatic problems 🙂

Robert Posey That did the trick, had chosen “rows per page”, works with width/height in pixels. Strange however in Edit-mode it looks fine and when leaving it doesn’t.

Dynamic text for “Storage” is missing the “Expert format” option.

So far none that cant be fixed in my end…

Yes I have a bug, I am no longer able to select customize on a widget. I have several Widgets customized with click actions but I no longer have this option as the Launcher will crash everytime. I can reproduce this bug everytime. Thanks

Thank you all for your feedback ! It helps me feel more confident for the next release.
To sum up:
* there was a couple of bugs with 9patches being messed a bit, or not being “resetable”, in b4. They are fixed in b4.2. Still, more work is needed to make the feature more user friendly.
* there are several use cases where editing folders is a bit weird: well… these bugs are not new and might be here for a few versions more…
* icons packs : please continue to send me reports 🙂

Alun Jones the reason is that the storage value is already formatted as a string and the only use case I see is add some text before or after. Is this what you are looking for ?
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Pierre Hébert yes – it just seems odd that it’s not possible to add dynamic text saying e.g. Internal storage: 50% free…
]]>
< ![CDATA[
You can add dynamic text for SD card storage.
Minimalist text handles many more dynamic text options then LL.

But this is not a feature request post.

I have had disappearing widget when removing them from folder.
I placed a widget by mistake in a folder while moving it. So I wanted to remove it from the folder and it disappeared. But it was still existing in the Zooper app. I had to uninstall and reinstall LLE to remove it properly.
I have another bug between LLE and Zooper. When my galaxy note 3 is on charge, some times widget appearance are no longer updated (watch freeze on a set time, media widget no longer display progress…). I have to reset the phone to have the widget updating again. But this is not constant and happen more or less randomly.
Had some crash as well. Mostly when applying icon set or changing icon of apps.

I have the same update problem using uccw…battery tells me discharging when the phone is plugged in…got annoyed with it, so I just got rid of the dynamic…

Emmanuel Lapierre that sounds a little bit like a possible bug a posted yesterday. Next time it happens try and grab the catlog. What I found was some “out of memory” errors, be interesting to see if that’s what you get too.
]]>

What I saw recently regarding widgets and zooper in particular, is that on newer version of Android, the android widget system silently run out of memory, but continues anyway. Everything seems fine except that widgets are not updated anymore. I am currently investigating why the memory level is so high, but the problem is that this seems extremely device specific.

I have had an issue with one widget going to a this widget cannot be displayed. 3d flip clock. Generaly it seems to happen after I come out of edit mode. Didn’t seem to affect other widgets and restarting ll alwayse fixes it. I do have a fair number of widgets tucked away in folders that seem un affected as well. I assume its because I run 2 instances of the widget. Once in widget lockr and again in LLX. Never noticed it untill I had 2 instances of it running and i believe it also happened when I used fewer folder widgets as well. could just be that widget. Sorry no concrete info.

Robert Posey I had the same issue with some Zooper widget but I do not have duplicate widget

It would be nice if the nine patch option had a toggle. If some one didnt like their changes it would be easy to shut off. Instead of having to look for a transparent .png
Edit: I guess you dont need to look for a blank ping as default icon turns it off.
Is the nine patch applied to all folders wih a blank png by default. Or is it enabled per folder after first use.
]]>
< ![CDATA[
Yes indeed, “default icon” reset it by deleting the image. I am not sure of what you mean by your question, but what I can say is that the image is not applied to folders with a blank png. Instead folders reuse settings set at the higher level, hence they all share the same image and settings. Once you set an image for a folder, this image override the global one. Does it answer your question ?
Well, I am not sure my explanation is very clear …

I originally set my folders to transparent. Then I added a white 9 image. To remove it I selected a transparent .png file.
That was before I noticed select default icon. So the transparent .png looked like it set the 9 to default.
If I had a black folder I may have noticed it was not the same as reset.
