v9.3.b1

v9.3.b1

Beta for LL and LLX.

No big thing in this version, although…

I am still in a “stabilization” phase. There are mostly bug fixes and minor improvements, except one ongoing modification regarding the item selection state.

The current selection feedback is not very nice (a plain square) and in order to prepare support for multi selection, the selected state need to be split in “highlighted” and “selected”. For these reasons I am introducing a new “Selection effect” (found in items settings, “+” tab). At the moment it is set to “Plain”, and everything will work as usual. But if you set it to “Holo” (in the box settings) and select an opaque selection color, then the launcher will look a bit like other well known launchers:

– icons will be highlighted using the selection color when touched, and there will be some holographic shadow when moving an item on the grid, the item background is kept transparent,

– in edit mode, the selected item is drawn with a standard overlay, but the background is not changed as it is now with the selection color.

In the future I would like to make this the default, but this is not a minor step and I prefer to walk carefully. The changes need some polishing : feedback welcome 🙂

And the full change log is:

– in edit mode, the selected item is now drawn with a contour and a light overlay

– add a few animations in edit mode when an item is dragged

– introduce a “Selection effect” option

– do not truncate the text in when it is left or top and there isn’t enough room, but truncate the icon instead

– copy style: don’t copy gestures attributes

– improved search in app drawer: the keyboard shows a go button which will launch the first app, which is focused, text highlighting, better sort (apps that start with search are displayed first)

– fix a bug where a swipe on an item to unlock the screen would leave the item selected

– yet another fix for shadowed/italic text (may appear on two lines previously)

– fix several crashes in rarely seen situations (but that happen anyway !)

– fixes several inconsistencies with the geometry editor when selecting different items

Edit:  9.3.b2 to fix a crash with the lockscreen when unlocking with a gesture.

I just discover this little tool in the app store.

It lets you save the default icon from the apps, so you don’t need to save the apk and extract it.

Maybe it’s useful for someone (I posted it here because it lets you easily make a shortcut and put a default app icon…I was searching for something like this time ago)

Sorry if it’s not useful to you.

Pop-up bug:

Pop-up bug:

I don’t have MENU key, but I can reproduce this with the gesture: “two fingers swipe down-open launcher menu” (secondary bug: this gesture don’t work on the app drawer)

-make a new desktop

-place an item in the middle of the bottom page (I mean, scroll down and place the item)

-exit edit mode

-long press that item

-scroll up to the main page, so you can’t see the item

-swipe down with two fingers

(See screenshot)

You can place the item upper and downer to see more or less from the pop-up menu. You can also hide it completely.

NOTE: only work if you are above the item, for some reason if the item is above the screen, the pop-up menu is shown completely at the top of the screen.
