Icons in folders are randomly rearranging themselves.
Icons in folders are randomly rearranging themselves. If I close and reopen the folder one or twice, it goes back to normal again. Any thoughts? This setup was a restore from another phone. Thanks

There is a “Rearrange items” option in the “Misc.” category, could it be the issue?

Rearrange option is off for all folders. When I say rearrange, I mean blow apart, sometimes far away from each other, most of them not even visible in the folder. Then after a couple of open and closes its back to normal.

Then maybe icons are not located at the origin of the folder? (the white house in edit mode). This could explain that the folder has to be scrolled to put back icons into view. Folders have a special behavior to help center the view on the content, regardless of where icons are, but maybe this mechanism fails here.

I checked and the icons are right near the white house in edit mode. The folder does not need to be scrolled to put icons back in place. The folder just had to be closed and reopened once or twice. Odd huh?

Indeed. I don’t have a clear idea on what is going on 🙁
Something else that might explain the problem is focus: when an item is focused, the app may scroll the container to display it, but focus is rarely used, so I don’t think this can be the reason, except if there are some special custom item in the folder, or if you use a trackpad or directional pad.

No, nothing like that, just simple icons. And its not scrolling as much as it is randomly blown apart icons. I have noticed, that when I go into edit mode when it appears to be blown apart, I can’t select the icons. My theory is that it’s because it’s not actually there, it is actually in its correct place, that’s why when you close and reopen folder it appears correctly. it is just sometimes displayed temporarily the wrong way. That’s what it seems like anyway.
This is a restore from backup and export from another device. this never used to happen on the old device, so I can’t help but wonder if something happened during the restore process and that maybe it wouldn’t be happening if I had built this from scratch. just speculating of course…

Mine has done this before, I often get little glitches and little weird things happening randomly for seemingly no reason but it’s not often enough to be that big of a deal considering how useful the launcher is. Plus the amount of capability it has considering it’s just him and not a team of physicists honestly I can’t believe it’s as good as it is. A perfect app is impossible because humans are fallible but this is one of the most stable. Like one weird random little thing mine does is when I select the widget picker in the item add menu, displays the app drawer first and then the legacy widget picker on top of the drawer, which doesn’t bother me but its random with seemingly no other causes connected to it…… With complexity comes chaos and pure perfection can be only infinite simplicity, dig deep enough into anything and might fall into a black hole.. Lmao 😅😅😂😂jus goofing off

I agree Corey Spell, it’s a great launcher and Pierre Hébert is doing an awesome job! The annoyances are extremely minor.

This maybe a minor annoyance but I would like to understand anyway… Does duplicating the folder and moving it to a new empty desktop trigger the problem, and if so could you send me the template for this new desktop please?

My problem is things happen so randomly and usually always during construction of a new set up. Pierre Hébert should I stop and immediately make a backup and send it to you like it is even if it’s just that one event? Because I can rarely ever reproduce it immediately after it happens, but when I’m not trying to catch it, well that’s when weird things really start to slither out. It’s still not a problem really jus lil slight annoyances that I can live with and can quickly straighten it up with a restart 99% of the time. It’s jus too powerful to let lil things like that bug me, still the ultimate emperor of them all lol jus curious if one lil event would be useful

Pierre Hébert , the folders are in the app drawer and I’m recalling those folders from the desktop. I don’t believe it is possible to duplicate folders in the app drawer is it?

I wasn’t thinking at app drawer folders… They have their own behavior too.
Could it be that when icons are at random positions, these positions matches the position when displaying the alphabetical list?

hm… I’ll look for that next time it does it. Its been behaving fine the last few days. 🙂
